Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
I mean I still want to see it. I don't think McGregor will do terribly every round, but Floyd will beat him comfortably. It is a circus show though.

He'll yeah I'm watching. If my stream doesn't break down.
People complaining about this need to loosen up.
Gonna be some great banter either way.

Looks like that one fighter just took a dive trying to force a DQ from an illegal hit.

Conor has no boxing technique. He's grappling and hammering

So is this legit or did they trade rounds for a while before Mayweather beat up on him?
IIRC boxing these days isn't really the least corrupt thing out there

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Yeah well hes not a boxer lol what a suprise that he has no boxing technique, right? Floyd still is barely a quarter of the fighter that Conor is, in any other form of fighting other than boxing (or very similar to boxing) Floyd would be killed.
It became obvious that Conor wasnt quite ready to go the distance at this pace, he usually finishes his fights quickly, sometimes even inside 1 minute so theres that.
Taking into account that it was his first boxing matvch against one of the best ever, his performance was really impressive.
I would propose a rematch on MMA rules but I suppose Floyd would be bathing in blood after a minute.

Conor had a huge upper cut on Mayweather who had a great chin. After then he just defended until Conor got tired. Didn't have the stamina for more than six rounds.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
pretty much, Conor simply does not know how to box, he can fight, but he can't box. When Mayweather of all people started advancing on him, it was over lol. the guy was walking forward throwing straight rights and landing consistently, the percentage of shot landed at the end looks ridiculously one sided lol.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Got up after a nap to watch this, was entertaining enough but just gotta throw out one more lol at people who thought McGregor would dazzle Maywether with his somehow unique stance and angles of approach
Floyd just figured him out for a few rounds then hit him at will with straight rights until the ref called it.
Fair play to McGregor though Goes into a different combat sport and fights the GOAT after a few months of training. Shame Floyd would never agree to a reverse match.

At some point during the match Floyd almost became an unwilling MMA fighter. Conor was loading that Suplex up.

Was entertaining. Proud of main man Connor. He clearly was serious with his gameplan of knocking out Floyd in two rounds. Once he got tired Floyd schooled him. Should have worked on his cardio even more.

Majority of people are saying Mcgregor did way better than expected rather than praise Floyd
which is what was always going to happen, no lose situation for Mcgregor

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
The only way people were ever going to praise Floyd is if McGregor CM Punk'd it and got KO'ed in the first two rounds tbf.
Even then i'd doubt they'd praise him.

Not legit.
The whole match was fake. McGregor wouldn't resist more than one round with Floyd in a serious box match and it is normal. Same would happen to Floyd in a MMA match.
Floyd basically did nothing for about 7-8 rounds. Wasn't even entertaining, because it was completely fake. For anyone who practiced box/MMA and anyone who knows this sports very well, it's impossible to be nice to watch.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Mayweather started tearing into McGregor as early as rounds 4-5. I don't know what this talk is about conspiracy. Did the best defensive boxer of all time really need to over-extend in the first few rounds and put himself in a vulnerable position to try and flatten the guy from the jump?
Both were upping the entertainment value of the spectacle, for sure, but Mayweather's strategy of letting McGregor tire himself out was quite clearly sound. Both got their paycheck, Mayweather got W #50, McGregor got much richer and some credibility for at least lasting that long and they seemed pretty happy about it in the end.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Yeah not buying a conspiracy, Floyd simply let McGregor hit his big shots, or attempt to and when he was gassed he went from putting in minimal effort to putting in a little bit of effort
He said it himself, that was the plan. He toyed with McGregor and wanted to give the fans a spectacle after the paq debacle.

I got GGG by TKO Round 9.
Think GGG will use his jab and rip the body later on
And lol, Floyd is possibly one of the greatest boxers of all time, do not disrespect him

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
That was such a weird fight to score, mainly because the rounds Canelo won he won easily and the ones GGG won he was pressuring but rarely landing anything at all but luckily for him Canelo wasn't hitting him back so you are kind of forced to give them to GGG by default.
I ended up going with 7-5 Canelo but there were a lot of rounds in there where i felt like neither guy deserved anything.
