Having being linked with a move to Manchester City, Sanchez was asked by Sky Sports whether he will be a team-mate of compatriot Claudio Bravo at City next season.

Sanchez replied: “Good question. Right now I’m focused on the Confederations Cup. When this is finished I will see if I stay or if I go. I don’t know.”

The follow up question asked whether Sanchez had already decided what his decision would be.

Arsenal are close to agreeing a deal to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon – with the two clubs now just €4 million (£3.5m) apart in their valuations. Arsenal hoped that a deal could be announced early next week.
