I'm standing firm now. I was close to ordering the digital version of the Ronaldo edition, but it's 80 quid. Nuts just for 3 days early access and some shitty packs. Especially when I was looking at possibly picking up a Vita again to play P4 Golden, which I could get for around that price. Not buying any version of this POS. Seems like they improved on nothing, predictably.

I played 5 or so games on UT last night, imo, best Fifa since 14 (my personal favourite), it's so much better than 17 which was the worst I've ever played.

It just feels so much better in every aspect, but the overall graphics haven't improved much.

It's the least arcadey and most try-hard realistic FIFA to date. Personally, I get the most enjoyment out of the more arcadey FIFAs, but I'm liking FIFA 18, so far. Making your player turn around is more frustrating than ever, though. Was playing The Journey the other day, and an opposing player who was relatively far away from me, managed to intercept the ball while my player was in the process of making a 270 degree turn. As usual, none of the minor issues from past iterations of FIFA have been fixed

Pro Club beta: As for the gameplay for me the passing is clean, player movement feels slow and very sluggish. It seems agility, dribbling and pace are going to be the key factors judging from the Beta, the turning agility of the AI and the reaction times are awful.

From full FIFA 18 release: Our first pro clubs match ended 9-1 (we lost) with a buddy controlling the Any.. It was awful. Subsequently with AI in control of the Any on both sides, the games felt a little more balanced but still stupidly high scores against us. Counter attacks so strong. Keepers so bad.

Lol at terrible AI turning, sluggish play and counter attacks being strong. So basically, it's still the exact sort of shit that put me off the game mode.

The movement responsiveness and collision physics in FIFA 18 is by far the worst I've experienced in any FIFA game I've played in recent years. I've never struggled so much to defend properly against good opponent players, and it's not because I can't predict what they're going to do, the player you control just isn't programmed to be able to react fast enough. Say what you want about the game being oh-so-realistic, but the way I see it, the state of defending in FIFA 18 has regressed back to where it was when people complained about it. If you've always sucked at defending, this isn't going to be much of an issue for you. I personally hate this particular aspect of FIFA 18. On the flipside, attacking players turn around considerably more quickly compared to defenders, so you'll have a huge advantage in getting past defenders.

Playing remotely interesting football = being exposed to counter attacks that you physically can not stop every time you lose the ball

At least in real life when you take the game to the opponent as the better team you generally have defenders who are standing in the right areas. On fifa you just get exposed because both of your full backs are 40 yards away from the winger, who's 2x faster literally.

I rage quit last night, when I was defending in a 1v1 situation and predicted that the attacking player would move to my right. I'd already decided that he was about to move to my right, so I flicked the thumb stick in that direction. Even with the benefit of being able to predict his next move, the extremely slow action to reaction time on my defender allowed him to ease past me as if I had no clue what he was about to do. Don't care what anyone says about this game, the way they've gimped defending is shit - it was perfectly fine, the way it was in FIFA 17. Whenever you collide with an opposing player in this game, whoever gets the ball is determined by which AI is less retarded.

Glad I retired from this garbage franchise. Rather deal with the shitstorm that is OW comp than FIFA.
