that's disgusting and you need to be banned for the season for something like that
stamping on someones head with football boots is literally life endangering

Thought the stamp was a sure red card but nope, nothing. The elbow is definitely a red card and nope, nothing there too. Don't blame Ibra for the retaliation but the referee really messed up. Twice.

never been so disgusted in my life
the fact he didn't send him off means retroactive action can be taken at least and hopefully it's a 15 or more game ban

That stamp from Mings was a crime, nevermind a red card. Seriously shocking stuff.
Ibrahimovic's elbow back was understandable. Wouldn't have happened without the stamp. But nonetheless, a red card on its own.
How Friend has missed both these incidents or saw both and thought neither was worthy of a card is baffling. Has refereeing really come to this?

Basically. Ibra's a hothead anyway and that's 100% a red card but considering the circumstances I'm actually willing to allow it tbh.

wtf.
Mings stamp his head and should have been sent off. Then Ibra elbowed and should have been sent off too.
In the end of the day, Surman got sent off and United have 11 players.

Re: English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 12
exactly so Mings should have been sent off and banned for life for that and Ibra given no chance to retaliate so hope is it a robbery from us
guys I'm actually baffled at how a professional footballer can do that wtf, heat of the moment etc but I honestly think he should be banned for life..you can't go around doing that, you can literally kill someone with that sort of stuff

Re: English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 12
I too have no beef with Ibra's action. You know, reactions and opposing reactions. If Friend actually did his job with sending off Mings?, they'll be no real need for Ibra to elbow anyone. And to make things more laughable, Surman gets sent off for what I assume is verbal abuse. Stamping a head, elbowing another player and he gets sent off for words.
Edit: Wasn't words, he pushed Zlatan. Lol, poor guy.

Yea not sure why Surman was sent off. Mings could have endangered Ibras life.

Re: English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 12
Looking at the Surman incident. He got one yellow for his follow through catching Shaw earlier. Then a 2nd for a little shove on Ibrahimovic that he milked. The ref didn't see that one so I can only assume the assistant pointed it out to him.
Replays showed Friend didn't actually see the Mings stamp because there was a play in the way. If so, there's a chance of retrospective punishment (there should be regardless but the rules on this are *bleep*).
He saw the elbow but bottled the decision. Plain and simple.

Ibra's going to get a 3 match ban probably anyway because the ref couldn't have seen it but the way they were talking maybe he did idk, confusing
Mings needs a season long ban

Absurd refereeing. Surman basically got sent off because the ref felt like he had to do something and didn't even realize that Surman was on a yellow
This guys must be having the worst performance of his career.

Referee saw Ibra's elbow so he won't be punished. Retarded rules remain retarded.

at least he didn't see Mings, hope he gets maximum ban
this is such a bizarre match, wouldn't be surprised if we lose 2-1 to 10 men by an own goal

You know it's bad when just about everyone agrees that Mings deserves an elbow to the face
Watch the FA bottle this as well. Mings deserves a lengthy ban for what he did.

He won't receive punishment because the ref saw it? That not making any sense honestly. You sure that's the rule?

The ruling is that if the referee says he saw the incident in his post-match report, the FA will not do anything. They stick by the ref's judgment even after replays show it was wrong.
It's only when the ref doesn't report an incident that the FA will act on it.
It's a stupid rule designed to protect referees after they screw up.

What a retarded rule
The FA needs an ethnic cleansing, sell all refs for 5m a piece to China/Middle East, spend 150m on actual world class refs

Re: English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 12
Although looking it up, it seems the rule was changed a bit in 2013. The FA CAN retrospectively punish players for off-the-ball incidents and acts of violent conduct, even if the ref reported as seeing it. So Mings and Ibrahimovic can still receive bans regardless if Friend saw it or not.
Whether the FA actually do or not depends on how much of a media outcry there is, though. They obviously don't review every game for incidents to punish.
