Best CB in PL this season? || 2016-17 edition

I'm surprised Stones isn't being mentioned much.

He's had a good start but like i said it's too early to really give an opinion at this stage.

I like him a lot, but i'd prefer to wait a little longer.

Matip is a young version of Per Mertesacker... a clone basically although just slightly shorter. So you should rate him as much as you rated Per in his prime, no more no less.

Matip is much faster and better with the ball but if he ever reaches Mertesacker's defensive capabilities ill be glad.

No he's not.  He's just as slow.  Klopp does well with slower CBs anyhow as he played Subotic and Hummels as his CB pairing at Dortmund...  he doesn't make them play safe at all.  However, he puts a lot of ball pressure so that the player needing to make the pass to the player(s) making runs away from the CBs has a difficult time getting the ball off cleanly.  

That's one way to do it.  But it can backfire on you in a big way sometimes.  Requires a lot of effort for 90 mins from this midfielders and wingers.  Klopp just transfers a good portion of the defensive responsibilities away from his back 4, which is a good idea given that Liverpool's defenders aren't very talented. He forces the opposition to rush as opposed to giving them time to pick his back 4 apart.

He's not the quickest but for his height he's fast enough, Faster than Mert. You can go on about systems and etc etc but we are talking about a single fundamental attribute here.
