Arsenal vs Liverpool
ITS BACK THE PL IS BACK
I'd want to play:
Regardless of what team Arsenal puts out on Sunday, They'll get a result in my opinion. Though we have a great chance of getting a win and mending the horrible form a bit at Emirates.
1. Don't think GW is ready to play CM.
2. Don't think Firmino should start upfront when Origi is fit and fresh.
3. Mignolet and Moreno
4. Can is very unfit and not upto the mark compared to the other players yet.
I'd want to play:
Mignolet
Clyne Klavan Lovren Moreno
Can Henderson
Coutinho Firmino Mane
Origi
Clyne Klavan Lovren Moreno
Can Henderson
Coutinho Firmino Mane
Origi

We are probably playing Chambers-Holding at the back and Theo upfront. 'nuf said.

You could always take Caulker on loan, lad's always up for it.

Re: Arsenal vs Liverpool
I'm thinking a high pressure, very attack minded approach to this game will be best. Arsenal will not be up to speed and they'll be missing quite a few players right now. Take the fight out of them early and bag a few goals and we could blow this game wide open.
Would like to see a switch to the 4-3-3 at some point with Wijnaldum coming in and maybe give Matip some time but he only recently returned so Klavan should get the start.
LET'S GO YOU REDS! START THE SEASON OFF WITH A STATEMENT! YNWA

Got good feeling about this one. Pretty impressed with Mane so far hope he continues his preseason form. Arsenal are one of those teams you don't know which one will show up on the day. Gonna go with Kloppo though.

Re: Arsenal vs Liverpool
Arsenal play pretty bad in the opening day every year. So we should do well here imo.
2015-16 - Loss to West Ham at home.
2014-15 - Beat 10 men Palace 2-1 in 95th minute offside goal at home.
2013-14 - Lost to Villa 3-1 at home.
2012-13 - 0-0 vs Sunderland at home.
2011-12 - 0-0 vs Newcastle
2010-11 - barely rescued 1-1 against 10 men Liverpool at home. Frickin Reina own goal on 90+minute.

I see Xhaka getting sent off in this one, his PL debut.
Not quite ready to bet on it, but I'm fairly sure.

I think you've shown that you can pressure any opponent onto the brink of collapse. You had Villareal on the ropes in the EL final for about 15 minutes before half time, they were looking like they had completely lost the plot.
You had Barca on the roped after HT in the friendly.
These are passages of play where Klopp's approach makes you unplayable for a while.
You just really need to capitalize on those moments.
You didn't in the EL final, and then one Moreno brainfart, or maybe one Mignolet clanger, can nullify all the massive strength you displayed only minutes before.
To me it looked as if you are not quite stable yet, because your midfield isn't strong enough yet.
But you will get moments of total dominance against Arsenal too. Just make sure to get 2,3 goals out of them.

Re: Arsenal vs Liverpool
We've got the worst finishers on the team
Coutinho and Lallana
Yes guys, Apparently Lallana is going to start instead of Origi. Firmino false 9.

Re: Arsenal vs Liverpool
I don't mind Lallana starting if it's in the 4-3-3 that we played against Barcelona. He was incredible in that game.
There's a lot to like about that formation, and goals in it for sure. I could even see Wijnaldum bagging one in his debut if we set up that way given how Arsenal will be up against it with their CBs and lack of elite talent on the field.

Re: Arsenal vs Liverpool
Come on RA, that was a BVB times quote. Klopp hasn't changed much, but the current Liverpool squad isn't the same as the BVB one at that time.
That said, fully expect Kloppoball to kill our inexistent defense, unless we play 3 DMs or something.

He hasn't changed much?????????????
Also, meant no disrespect to Arsenal, just sayin' he'll throw everything at that defence, we don't have someone that's tactically inept anymore so he'll want to exploit any weakness

“We have built a squad not just so we can react to injuries. But also so that we have different options for different opponents – smaller spaces, counter-attack. Things like this. We feel much better about that compared to last season.

He has? Just curious, but in what way? (I admit I have been on somewhat of a sabbatical from watching games since Nov last year, so didn't watch you guys much either)
Fully expect Klopp to throw everything, and at quite some intensity, at us. Think we'd play more like the away team. smh
