Yeah absolutely. And thankfully, Rami is suspended for the next game. Since Kante is also suspended, you're going to see the same lineup as the 2nd half imo.

Doubt it. Ireland played a 5 at back so there was no midfield contest. Against big teams pogba-matiudi lacks a passer, a play maker. Plus both of them are susceptible to turn overs in deep position. Drop one off them for a actual playmaker if they are going 442.
Re: EURO 2016 France - R16 - France Vs Republic of Ireland
They dont need a playmaker, they can play together just fine. There is going to be Payet and Griezmann dropping deep to pick up the ball, that's enoughAdit wrote:Mr Nick09 wrote:this is the best version of france in this tournament. It's much better than the completely pointless trio of Matuidi-Kante-Pogba though.

I disagree. They can do with a passer in midfield. Wingers dropping deep is not the solution, that would only bring more pressure.
Re: EURO 2016 France - R16 - France Vs Republic of Ireland
the most important part is that you're not asking to Pogba to be what he is not: a playmaking CM. He's absolutely not that. With him, he either needs to attack as a B2B or he needs to play deep. Today, he was asked to attack as as a B2B in the first half, which he did well. But more importantly, you saw what he can do when he's asked to play the holding ball and play simply.
Playing Matuidi on the right was completely retarded though

That's true.
And their best playmaker Cabaye is not even called up.
Give it to Deschamps for calling up too much similar players.

Griezmann and Payet are plenty good creating play with Coman bringing speed/dribbling and Giroud bringing the muscle/focal point. With Matuidi and Pogba as the double pivot, there are not problems.

Of course if they had a playmaker ala gundogan it would be perfect but they dont. And frankly it's not needed. Atletico played Tiago-gabi in midfield and had no troubles winning games.Adit wrote:Mr Nick09 wrote:They dont need a playmaker, they can play together just fine. matuidi-kante-pogba is midfield retard tbh
cabaye is not up to par, so playing him just because he is a supposed "plymaker" is not worth it

Agreed, surprised you don't go long to the striker ( i know it's frowned upon but still ) more often. I had visions of that 2nd goal happening more often with this team tbh, but it hasn't so far.

In a 433, Griezmann isn't close enough to Giroud and he's wide. In the 4231 (which can easily become a 442 with Sissoko instead of Coman btw), the spacing and movements are more aligned to this sort of play.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Agreed, surprised you don't go long to the striker ( i know it's frowned upon but still ) more often. Coman was incredible... what happens is that he destabilizes everything and the defenders are scrambled. As a result, all the other players have a ton of space.
He was the difference in the game tbh. Griezmann took advantage.

Doesn't matter, he changed the game because direct play and and pace allowed space to open up for everybody else.
End product

Coman does awesome job of creating space and provide descent cross around the third half. He will eventually improve with the more times he gets.

Against a tried defense, Coman is absolutely lethal with his pace... right now, that's the best way to use him. Once his technique and end product improves, he becomes a starter and elite player imo.
