We're now the sole bidders for the tournament now. I'm glad we're going to be hosting it.

After Germany 2024 i'm glad the Euros is going to the home of football in the following edition. I like when the host is a big football nation.
That combo Russia 2018-Eurovid all over-Qatar 2022 in winter was a sad stretch for international football. Those competitions lacked charisma although it did not had a negative effect on the quality football.

Charisma? lol what are you even talking about... if anything of the recent world cups Qatar and South Africa have been most memorable precisely because it was so different... the element of the unknown, along with presentation of cultures that usually don't get Western world mainstream coverage

I did not mention South Africa because i have fond memories of it. A festive world cup, a whole country to discover, and who does not remember the Waka Waka song.
Nah Russia and Qatar did not provide any added value as host. It was a football competition no more no less could have been anywhere with a better vibe. I'll remember the elephant in the room, everybody knowing they were not rightful hosts but you just have to cope with corruption.

The World cup in Africa was so much better than Qatar or Russia. 2010 was great.
Qatar would be very unmemorable for me had Messi not won it

i thought we dispelled that whole "rightful hosts" myth during the Qatar WC... there was a lot of islamophobia attached to that narrative... Qatar WC was great... Arabs were happy, the matches were of great drama and quality, the world was happy when the GOAT was crowned

Well i never agreed with those conclusions
When something does not make sense, such as Qatar being awarded the world cup, it's not islamophobic to call it out.

every country has blood on their hands, one way or another, that was the conclusion we reached

Russia and Qatar were great world cups football wise though It might seem callous giving these countries' transgressions, but as a football fan that's what I'll ultimately remember.

Re: The UK and Ireland are hosting Euro 2028
I barely remember any game from WC 2018 tbh
I remember WC 2022 of course and some good things happened: great games, Messi completed his GOAT narrative, CR7 in shambles, even my country participated for the first time in ages. I hope it's the last world cup ever to occur in november/december.
Many years ago the location added a bit of folklore to the tournament, last time was France 2016. Since then we've seen nothing but stale events, in Russia and Qatar it felt quite governmental, too obviously a PR stunt, you knew they corrupt FIFA who allowed them to show off their muscles. Not interesting. As for Euro 2020 the overall setup was a joke, it was almost a Nations League lol
