Re: English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion
No idea why Liverpool signed Wijnaldum if he's going to play CM
Look he's talented and can do a job( which tbh i'd argue is a waste of money if that's what he's been bought for) i suppose but he goes missing for long periods of the game which isn't a great trait for a midfielder.

He's a better version of Henderson tbh. If it means Henderson plays less games, it's not such a bad thing.

Sell Moreno for free asap. If needed throw some cash as well just to entice the buyers.

It is not about starters or not. If it was about only those 11, then why bother with a squad.
And if you have a squad where you can't rely on individuals to step up, then you're only making excuses for yourself.
At a top club, you want competition for every single place. There is a lot of comfort and complacence at Arsenal.

Nah.
His biggest issue is that he doesn't demand the ball and worse than that he actively avoids it. Unless you are actively looking to give it to him he'll be non existent for long period and was today.
He's effective when he does get it mind, none of what i just said is anything like Henderson and you know full well that i don't rate him in the slightest.

Must say it's the first time Liverpool look on paper a better and more talented team, not surprised by the result.
Wenger is a disgrace fielding such a team to start the season at home

Re: English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion
Those Liverpool goals were all brilliant. Don't think I've seen anything like it.
That we got two goals back flattered us tbh. One jammy solo goal and a set-piece. Other than that we had no real foothold in the second half and didn't put Liverpool under any sort of pressure.
Don't think there's another so-called top club as under-prepared as we are right now. Only 1 win in 7 on the opening day of the season We'll blame injuries and the Euros but it's our fault for only having two inexperienced kids as backup in defence and not having another striker in the squad. It's pretty much negligence at this point.

Speaks volumes about how crappy our preseason preparations on and off the field are, year after year.

We look so unfit it's unreal. players dropping like flies after 60th minute lmao. No one has any tactical understanding.
Our best players are on the bench
Sanchez upfront has never worked but Arsene will never stop trying.

@Moal
Klopp brought him to play CM. And I think we're gonna persist with this 4-1-4-1/4-3-3 formation so it means 1 DM and 2 CMs. He's been bought to be a CM and will compete with Hendo, Milner, Lallana, and Grujic to plays the 2 CM roles.
Today Hendo played the DM role, because Can and Lucas not fit enough to start and Stewart is not that good.
Think of the Henderson back in 12-13/13-14 seasons, not the guy playing CM in a double pivot. Wijnaldum is essentially that runner Hendo but better on the ball. At least I think that's the hope.

Won't blame Ozil one bit if he decides to not sign a new contract. Deserves the likes of Bayern or Barca not us.

Arsenal fans need to calm down. You had both your cbs missing and were playing kids there. Its one of the hardest positions to fill in for a new player and against a counter attacking pacy team such as Pool its even harder.
I think you lot will do just fine once the big names return. I am sure this result will put pressure on Wenga to buy Lacazette and Mustafi (if its not done already that is).

Here's the thing though, neither of the centre backs did much wrong. Sounds strange but we could have had Kosceilny and Mertesacker in there or Koscielny and Mustafi or whoever and the result would still be the same. Goals like Pool's second and third happen because the protection from midfield isn't good enough.
And I was saying this in our section, but new players won't solve everything. Obviously they'll help but the way we play and set-up is flawed. Adding Mustafi, Mahrez, Lacazette, or whoever doesn't change that.

Two things, mate.
First: the goals weren't down to CB inexperience and mistakes - they were down to tactics and personnel selection in midfield.
Second: Wenger is only going to spew the rhetoric on mental strength in almost scripting a historic comeback. He's been in the game too long to panic buy after a loss. That hasn't happened in forever. The only exception was the trolley dash after 8-2.

Re: English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion
stupid Sky pundits hounding and bullying Arsene again with stupid questions "that demeanour", "his team isn't good enough" bla bla bla
Last I checked Arsenal were *bleep* SECOND PLACE in the league last seaon, only beaten by a club who bought no nnames and which those clowns didn't spend a second thinking about.
Every year they bitch and moan, recycle and regurgicate their resentful, tired talking points. "Mentality". "Spend money". "Won't make top 4"
Every year Arsene leads Arsenal to top 4, EVERY YEAR.
These clowns should stfu and show some *bleep* humility and respect.
The only ones who are allowed to complain about Arsene are Arsenal fans.
Everyone else needs to bow down and *bleep* salute the man.

He has long since lost the right to be put on such a pedestal.
We finished in top 4 last season because others *bleep* up. Look at the points tally as a metric instead of league position.
Year Points Position
2004/05 83 2
2005/06 67 4
2006/07 68 4
2007/08 83 3
2008/09 72 4
2009/10 75 3
2010/11 68 4
2011/12 70 3
2012/13 73 4
2013/14 79 4
2014/15 75 3
2015/16 71 2
We should have been 4th, if you look at the average points for 4th place. Being second is purely down to others, nothing to do with the stagnant and mediocre Wenger.

If Xhaka had started today he would have seen a red card. He made about 5 or 6 fouls when he came on as a sub, he'll need to knock that on the head very soon or he'll struggle to finish 90 minutes.
