Former Plymouth Argyle, Rotherham United and Aberdeen defender Arnason has not taken Ronaldo’s condescension lightly. “He’s a fantastic footballer but he’s not a gracious human being,” responded the Malmo central defender, who enjoyed a commanding night against Portugal’s front line. “The thing is we almost nicked the win so him saying we weren’t going for the win contradicts that. We got a draw and could have nicked it.

Ronaldo ended the game embroiled in an argument with the referee and, despite his reluctance to shake hands with Iceland’s players, did so with captain Aron Gunnarsson.

Arnason added: “It makes it even sweeter when he’s a sore loser like that. He can say whatever he wants. He didn’t really get a chance. He got one and he couldn’t put it away. What can I say? Sore loser. Tough shit. What does he expect - for us to play like Barcelona against him? He fannies about and dives around.”

Another pretty disappointing performance from Austria.
Hope they can get a little lucky this time though. Portugal really should be 1 or 2-0 up right now.

Austria aren't a great team though. Can't expect anything better. Their defence and GK look like a mess.

Portugal always break down in the final third. before that they are ok. They need a striker.

Austria had the 2nd best record in the qualifiers behind England. You would think they would show some of those performances on the big stage.

Their big players have been really poor especially Alaba who has looked totally out of sorts.

Robert Almer was 2nd GK at Hannover the season before he went to Austria Wien last season, so he is not really too convincing. Moreover, he ios not really a modern goalie and not really good with his feetl

The second option would be Ramazan "Rambo" Özcan of FC Ingolstadt, who is okay, but not extraordinary, too. I might have chosen him noneless, as he faces higher class opponents in the German Bundesliga weekly, other than Robert Almer in the Austrian Bundesliga.
