Which teams will go through? (Choose 2, please)
Re: EURO 2016 France - Group A
Lol sports
Are you seriously suggesting Albania dint try to attack France today? Infact they looked a more threatening team than France trying to start as many attacks as they can but the lack of quality upfront meant all those threatening situations fizzled away.
Ridiculous to claim they came looking for a 0-0.

Thanks sportczy but the fact you needed 90' to score a goal against Albania I think you need to find the crap somewhere else as well.Don't be so biased ffs.
If Albania did hold 90 minutes, imagine Italy playing their trademark "crap PTB" football.

Dude if we had a freaking Giroud upfront we could have scored
I didn't expected us to have that much chances.

Yeah , in the first half they even dominated the midfield at times and France would only get the ball back when Albania wasted the chance .

Re: EURO 2016 France - Group A
Experimenting is in no way an excuse in a tournament. The coach fields a team and that's that, full responsibility on him and the players that play. Is Deschamps new? no, he has had France for 4 years. No excuses for this terrible performance.
Are Payet, Martial, Matuidi, Coman and Giroud not supposed to be good players? Everyone underperformed but Payet.
60% possession doesn't mean much and most of those shots weren't as dangerous as Albania's.
Be honest, you CANNOT be satisfied by that performance.

However since most of us don't consider la lique top level, you can hardy say the french youth lique TOP level.
I went to the same youth academy that produced Zidane (my teammate for a year), Vieira, Zebina, Clichy, Micoud, Flopbert, Sebastien Frey, etc.
French youth academies to this day produce the most player in top league of any system in Europe:

Anyway, France with that defense and Giroud starting wont win anything.Better teams would eventually exploit their weaknesses.

I have a strong belief we'll take points against Romania to leave this first tournament with our heads up.This is our first step...the good is yet to come with some youth albanian talents emerging in Albania and outside. We can come back stronger

Who can France play in the R16?
I get the feeling they would get wrecked by Spain.

I'm worried about teams live Wales in our supposed " easy " road to the semis .
this time it will be Bale or Ramsey on the counter , not some Scruban Scrubsi .

I actually liked it... once the Swiss drew, it didn't matter what the result of this game would be. The last game would decide the group. Deschamps wanted to give some experience to the kids and rest Pogba/Griezmann. Maybe a bit naive... but not much to lose even if we lost the game. Having watched Albania, I'm sure he figured that there wasn't much chance of conceding. Once things didn't go his way in the first half, he switched back to his main team and tactics... and then France dominated as expected.
Since WC 2014, France has only played friendlies due to the auto qualify. So it's been hard to really get data on what works and doesn't. I think he just saw this as an opportunity to get real hard data.

Two average games for France is too much to consider them favourites.I cheer for them but Pogba and his friends just ain't ready appatently, not matured enough, just like Belgium.

Re: EURO 2016 France - Group A
Yeah because Spain were so much more convincing against another PTB team in the Czek Republic Same with Germany against Ukraine.... they had less shots than we did against Albania.
Anyhow, tournaments don't start until you get teams that play each other... and both are trying to win the game. All these fodder early games show absolutely nothing because the better teams don't play each other this way.
People forget how crap Germany looked in its early games in WC 2014. On the other hand, France looked like world beaters. Meant nothing when the two met. It came down to 1 mistake on a free kick for the game. That's typically how these top games go these days... don't expect anything different.

Agree
They are still too young a team.Right now they have Payet who's in the form of his life and perhaps Griezmann in his prime.
The rest are either young and inconsistent or washed up/not good enough like Rami,Evra and Sagna
2018 would be a good time to expect big things from this talented French team.
I stick with my prediction.I think they'll get knocked out in semis.

I won't know what any team is really made of until they play a proper opponent. Belgium and Italy got an early test so we know where they are. Croatia will give Spain a good test too. You could also argue that Slovakia will give England a decent test... as will Poland for Germany (although Germans always win lol). That's it for pool play imo. All the other teams won't get tested until elimination round games where every team plays to win.

France play one of Ukraine/Turkey/Sweden in Ro16
And most likely Wales in the QF
Basically France wouldnt have played any bigg(er) opponent until Semis assuming they make it through.Imo this could prove to be a tricky situation for France.
They havent even played Qualifiers,so they don't exactly know where they stand compared to the big nations.

Re: EURO 2016 France - Group A
I thought the Albanians played an excellent game. Until the French goal they had the closest chance for a goal. And, their character and discipline caused the French tremendous problems. Honestly, Belgium playing Italy looked better than France. Or at least, France looked no better in terms of organization and decisiveness in their game compared to the Belgians who were playing against a somewhat stronger opponent.
Congratulations Albania.
Congratulations Albania.

Re: EURO 2016 France - Group A
Sorry about my harsh words last night Albania fans. You guys are doing what you can... can't do more with what you have. I understand that in your case. But such tactics has become commonplace with teams that actually can do more. That's the source of my frustration. Instead of really managing their teams, a lot of managers take the safest route and PTB. I really don't like the trend.
I just feel that football has become an exercise of playing it safe as opposed to taking risks... but it has nothing to do with you. Albania had no choice.

It seems like Pogba did a f*ck you gesture yesterday after the game towards the stands and Bein Sports are burrying the pictures so not to revive the drama, lmao

He did it towards the press corps... which is why they're upset those pansies. They deserve it though. But both TF1 and Bein refuse to release the video because they don't want to create controversy and I think they understand it was intended for the l'Equipe journalists who have been crazy harsh on Pogba and Griezmann after the first game.
