I think teams need to try something unique to move the shape that these teams create. Just simply crossing the ball doesn't really get your far.
Maybe something like overloading one side of the pitch to try and get in behind from out wide.

Do what Bayern did tonight, but away from home too.

Carlo Madrid or Milan. Not impossible by any means. but no one really plays balanced football these days.

Have strikers like Muller/Lewa. Total difference from last game.

Creative genius like Ozil and tricky forwards with movement and finishing like Suarez, Robben, Messi, Ronaldo etc.
Bayern did quite well tonight but their players underperformed or were just plain shit.

Just do what Bayern did tonight? Dominated Atletico from start to finish.
As long as you don't play embarrassing defense like Alonso/Alaba/etc on the Saul goal and then Boateng/Alaba on the Torres goal you win the tie easy

You don't need to do anything unique. Play with width, draw players out of the centre, move players in behind. Like Bayern did tonight, and what Barca did to Atleti for years.

Stretch them like Barca do. Their fullbacks are crap but most of the wingers around the world are too. Neymar and Messi are usually MOTM against Atleti because they stretch them and pick passes in the gaps. Also a reason why they couldnt deal with ADM. When you have really good wingers they struggle

I'm more interested in finding a way to actually beat their system, as opposed to just win the game. You know, completely rip them apart and win 4 or 5-0. Render their system useless.

They won against atletico, not dominated. to dominate is to have a 3 goal lead by last whistle. they fought for a narrow yet fruitless victory.
Re: What's the best way to beat a team like Atletico/Leicester?
Historically, a good catenaccio playing team will almost always beat a good tiki-taka playing team. Sometimes a good catenaccio playing team will beat an excellent tiki-taka playing team, almost never the other way around.
By catenaccio I mean the Helenio Herrera catenaccio which is played by Atletico (Simeone learned much of his trade in Italy playing for Pisa, a super catenaccio squad and Internazionale where Herrera introduced it years before).
Catenaccio got a bad name because many losing managers denounced it and Herrera. It isn't at all boring. Lightning counter attacks with three passes to goal are scintillating.

Yeah. Apparently Atletico have been dominated for four games in a row now. Twice by Barca and twice by Bayern. Yet somehow after four games it's Atletico who have emerged victorious. Some people need to wrap their head around the fact that it's not domination in football to keep more of the ball and have more attempts at goal if that doesn't lead to victory.

Stretch them I would say. Separate them from each other because they have these partnerships who make moving ball in final third very difficult. EL Kommander and Bale to show the path in Milan imo
