Re: The Movie House - Part 7
Gareth Edwards has departed as director of “Godzilla 2” after helming the 2014 reboot for Warner Bros. and Legendary.
The exit comes three days after Warner Bros. moved back the release of “Godzilla 2” by nine months to March 22, 2019. Warner Bros. and Legendary partnered on “Godzilla,” which grossed $529 million worldwide, then announced last August that they had scheduled “Godzilla 2” for June 8, 2018, with Edwards returning as director of the monster movie sequel.
A source close to Edwards indicated that his decision is not related to any difficulties with the material or “Godzilla” franchise, but rather a desire to do smaller projects after directing two tent poles (“Godzilla” and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”) back to back. Edwards’ “Rogue One” opens on Dec. 16.
Legendary disclosed last year that Godzilla would be joined by Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah in “Godzilla 2.” The first Godzilla appeared in 1954 and has generated 28 movies.
The next film in the Warner-Legendary partnership, “Kong: Skull Island,” hits theaters on March 10, starring Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, and “Straight Outta Compton” actors Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell.
“Kong: Skull Island” will be set in the mysterious home of the king of the apes and follow a team of explorers deep inside the island. Jordan Vogt-Roberts is directing from a script by Max Borenstein, John Gatins and Dan Gilroy. Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni will produce with Mary Parent.
Warner Bros. also announced this week that it has dated its “Godzilla vs. Kong” movie for May 29, 2020, when the studio and Legendary officially unify the two franchises into a single film. No director has been named for that movie.

Went to see a movie by myself for the second time in my life. Still weird as shit. There were absolutely awful choices. Seen Civil War twice already. The Jungle Book didn't have a showing for another 2 hours so opted for Money Monster with George Clooney and Julia Roberts. Really boring. 5/10. Waste of time.

Yeah because people want to watch anything related to Assassins Creed in present day lol.
I'm going to be right, might as well accept it now tbh. This is just further proof of it tbh.

I want to. It makes more sense to have the present in a film. Else the film wouldn't make much sense at all.
The past is funnier to play, but as a movie a 50/50 ratio would be best.

Re: The Movie House - Part 7
Past is more interesting too in a film setting, from a storytelling point of view it's a lot more interesting than the animus shit or however they decide to approach it.
Also it would likely be a heck of a lot more entertaining, I just don't see any positive to position a series mainly about the past and telling stories about that and having it as an afterthought.
We'll see but I doubt they can make the present day stuff interesting at all.

The present day setting is what makes the past interesting. The whole animus and backstory has to be setup and that would take the whole 1st act. I really think the whole sci-fi element combined with the past is what makes it interesting. I feel like the present is only thought to be bad because it isn't something you play is the game but more of a cut scene you want end because the gameplay is so fun.
From what I remember the stories in the games are very convoluted and I really think the way they're doing it sets up the best movie.
Also if the 35% comment turns out to be true. It's still around 45 minutes time, which is a lot thing considered and probably the majority of the 2nd act.

It's bad from a storytelling point of view as well IMO, I understand it's necessary in terms of setting it up but not to that extent personally.

Pretty sure it'll deliver for the fans of the property. The trailers haven't been great but I've loved the individual scenes I've seen from it.

Yeah watched it too on 3D. Really enjoyed it, don't know why they had the main theme for like only 10 seconds near the end though.

It's a highly anticipated movie for us Warcraft players. We've been waiting 10 years for it
Duncan Jones has Mute coming out in 2 years also. Will probably begin on it after Warcraft premieres.

So basically f*ck the books, drop Roland and Jake in the middle of the series where they're in NY, and here i'm hoping to witness the iconic Drawing of Three, seems like i'll have to go into this with no expectations

At least Idris looks fitting, despite me hating on him initially, maybe i'll come around to like him in that role

Rewatched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Still stink it's one of the best action comedies ever made. Everything in that movie is pitch perfect.

Re: The Movie House - Part 7
The Nice Guys absolutely hysterical
Ryan Gosling is a top 3 actor for me. Not in talent, but in terms of my favorite actors. Anything he's in I will go and see, his comedic acting in this was fantastic and I've enjoyed all of his other movies as well. Russell brilliant as always playing the more serious "buddy cop". Directing was top notch, pacing, storyline etc all great. Don't get me wrong, the writing as far as being lazy at times was unreal but that was part of the comedy and the style of the movie, and it's well placed.
Best movie I've seen in 2016 so far (to be fair, I haven't seen many, but it was so good).

Re: The Movie House - Part 7
Doubt they're going to cast a 50-year old woman as Bond if they go that route. I'd love a female led secret agent movie, but it's not going to happen without some gender switching because IPs are the only thing to get made. Don't know of any famous female spies, except maybe Black Widow, but that doesn't really count.
Would love Emily Blunt as a female MI6 agent.
