Re: CL QF / Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid
Torres shouldn't of lunged at him in the first place though when he was on a second yellow; regardless of if Busq's over played it or not he would of still got a yellow for flying at the back of leg like that. Which goes back to my point of Atletico being hyper aggressive then they act like everyone's against them and they are innocent. And no, I am not denying certain Barca players love to milk it, but they WERE definitely getting hit hard all game so it gets to a point where I get it.
And your right about Suarez, but we try to keep him calm lol. If he played for Simone, he would probably encourage him to go butt wild, going on a biting spree and he would be constantly suspended

windkick wrote:I like how nobody mentions how insanely aggressive Atletico shows up to play vs Barca. They have a history of making hard fouls on us that should definitely get punished. There tactic to stop our game is to literally hack and knock us down as much as possible in order to annoy and wear us down so they can keep themselves in the game. Like playing old school Stoke on steroids yet everyone over looks that they initiated and pushed the game to that ugly level.
No one mentions it cause no one disagrees with it. Everyone knows Atletico are super aggressive and destructive.
Thats why I liked the game until the red card. Atletico were actually holding the ball and doing things differently. They recycled possession if there was no clear chance to score on the counter instead of going for it anyway. The avoided losing the ball so often and it led to them having to defend less. No sitting deep. Super fast pressing to recover the ball and then slow and careful when they got it, unless Barca had a clear opening. Really interesting, smart game to watch. Then Torres screwed everything up

@Windkick
Didn't mean to come across in that way, totally agreed with the 2nd yellow Torres received. It was a yellow card worthy challenge that Ramos would approve of (since he would have done and have done exactly that).
The irony is in the fact if it were, let say Koke on the receiving end of a challenge from, let's say Alba, Koke would have asked for the stretcher and Simeone would have gone absolute ape shit and Arda would have pelt a shoe for reasons. It's always funny to see the roles reversed and the subsequent reactions.

BORUSSIA!! wrote:breva wrote:Some have asserted that Barcelona have had more occasions to have the opposite team play with less men in the CL because they have participated in more games in the CL. If it were a matter of mere statistics, as some have asserted, wouldn't have we seen Barcelona play shorthanded equally as frequently if it were just a statistical issue? I can't recall Barcelona ever playing with men down in any CL match.
No because their players are well behaved and also very skillful, therefore they are prone to getting fouled a lot and then the opponent will likely get more bookings. Makes sense. Not hard to figure out.
Don't get the outrage over the red. It was stupid by Torres and he was lucky not to be sent off earlier before the Busquets challenge, but the referee let him off without giving him a second yellow then.
No outrage at all. But having played 30 times against less than a full team and not once playing with less than 11 men is a bit much.

They were down to ten men against Chelsea in that now infamous semi final 2nd leg in London back in 09. I think it was Abidal. Can't remember any other time or maybe it was too insignificant to remember.

Yeah when Anelka tripped himself up
I don't see why it's shocking that a team which has more than 70% a lot of the time would have less reds than the opposition chasing them and committing constant fouls anyway.

I must admit, it is odd for a team to have generated so much red cards towards the opposition but at the same time, kinda doesn't matter for yesterday's match because Torres was ridiculous to do what he did.

Man City 15/16 possession in PL - 54% possession in CL - 50%
Man City 14/15 possession in PL - 55% possession in CL - 49%
Man City 13/14 possession in PL - 55%
Man City 12/13 possession in PL - 56%

Where is this 60-70% possession coming from?

Re: CL QF / Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid
Watching the game as a 100% neutral, I can say that IMO the reffing was fair for athletico if not to their advantage.
All of their fouls commited were very hard fouls and they showed no respect to the opposition player. The could break the legs of barcelona players and would not give a damn.
Also, Barcelona are looking very bad recently the RM game and this one were the only 2 I've watched tbf but still. I dont know if they are just fatigued or what but they do not look like they stand a chane againts bayern. Every one of their players looked slow, especially Messi. Ayone else notice this?
If torres stayed on I would predict Atletico to win 3-1

Re: CL QF / Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid
I think it's likely that Atletico would've had a player sent off eventually, regardless of that second yellow card to Torres. Their initial aggressiveness faded somewhat after that incident. I still think the ref should've given Torres a warning instead of sending him off so shortly after his first yellow, though. Alternatively, he could've warned him for the first foul. A good referree would've distributed the cards more evenly, instead of showing strictness in certain situations and leniency in others. I did not get the impression that he had the game under control.

I think you are spot on on the reffing thing, but way off on our performance.
We played a horrid first half, even AFTER Torres got sent off, but we played much better in the seoncd half, with another gear. With that attitude, we could have turned it around with 10 or 11 men just as easily. We've been held by 10 men countless off times before (Chelsea, Inter), it doesn't make it that much harder to park the bus, one man stays up top anyway most of the time.

Atleti weren't parking the bus with 11. It would not have been nearly as easy to turn it around against a full team.

It is useless. Hala is so delusional that all the proof in the world wont change his mind.

I get the feeling Atleti will sneak through 1 0.
Some scrappy goal from either Godin or Koke.
