Re: Manga and Anime
@Firenze I've read two "out there" mangas recently. Chikan Otoko and Onanie Master Kurosawa. The premise of the second one is 1000x worse than rock climbing or bird who is a boy Wonder if you've read them, if you have not I would recommend.

Re: Manga and Anime
onanie master kurosawa is a legit top 20 manga
which I was not expecting when I read the premise
chikan otoko was very good too from what I remember
I'm reading this atm
https://myanimelist.net/manga/23571/Sunny
from the guy that made Ping Pong and it seems pretty great so far too

hope they eventually animate it
way better than the other JJBA parts because the author finally learned how to craft antagonists (minor included) that weren't just shitty villain of the week types
unfortunately Jojolion, Part 8, can't even hold a candle to it so far, probably one of the weaker parts for me, but not sure if that's because I read it monthly so the pace feels shit

Re: Manga and Anime
Also read two more Asano manga. What a wonderful world and Nijigahara Holograph. Thought they were good, would have been great it they were more polished. Liked What a wonderful word better, some short stories were 10/10, others missed the mark for me. Nijigahara was confusing, I had to read a lot of parts twice. Had to be the most depressing manga I've ever read.

Re: Manga and Anime
Nijihara Holograph is too obscure for me, had to read up about it afterwards. I liked What a Wonderful World if I recall but I agree some of the stories were meh. Same with most of his short story collections.
It's been like 4 years since I read his stuff but my ranking on MAL was
Oyasumi PunPun (10)
Solanin (9)
A Girl On The Shore ( 8 )
Hikari No Machi ( 8 )
Sekai no Owari to Yoakemae ( 8 ) (some of the best art i've ever seen in this)
Nijihara Holograph (7)
Reiraku (6) (this was a recent 1 volume thing he published that seemed very autobiographical mostly)
also reading his current series that's been running for a few years and is a lot different from his other stuff, I'm not that into it but it's probably a 7 so far, Dead Dead Demon's Dededededestruction
It's about some schoolkids in Tokyo, in a world where an giant alien spaceship arrived a few years ago and resides over the city and deals with the incoming apocalypse while balancing slice of life shenanigans with comedy and a heavy dose of sociopolitical themes thrown about, but he changed the art style up a lot from his earlier work and I'm not a fan. That should be ending within a year if he stops with the constant breaks so maybe wait until then.
He also has a bunch of other shit that's not worth reading. But I definitely recommend the other things I listed if you didn't read them already.
I still haven't found anyone that makes the same sort of manga he does, also a top 3 artist.

Re: Manga and Anime
don't
assuming you're an adult now
just don't
Naruto got me into anime & manga hard so I think of it fonder than most but it's generic shit, the first half is actually good but the last few years are horrific
plenty of better stuff out there to watch
Naruto, DBZ, OP, Bleach etc are shit
if you're gonna go for a battle shounen as an entry point, try Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood or Hunter x Hunter, I guess. Both of those are very highly rated and while I think the former is hardly great, it's pretty consistent and doesn't ever become complete shit like Naruto etc.
Also way less episodes. Naruto is like 500 eps without filler lol
FMAB, HXH for entry level battle stuff
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure for Great action series (emphasis on the bizarre though)
try Attack on Titan too

Re: Manga and Anime
I watched some scenes, because the Garou arc is my fav part by far. See a lot of fans of season 1 complaining because the studio isn't on par with season 1's

Re: Manga and Anime
always been a manga reader so never watched the anime (outside of a few scenes)
Madhouse did season 1, and they're widely regarded as one of the best around, if not the best
not sure why they didn't want to do the second season, I think the license holders wanted it out faster than Madhouse wanted to do it, I did see some sketchy animation in some of the scenes I saw from S2

Re: Manga and Anime
Blade of the Immortal is getting a complete anime adaptation btw
forget if I mentioned it before, but that means it'll have to be like 64 episodes long
I am praying it's not a shitty CGI but I can't imagine it will be at that length
more news to follow as it was just revealed last week
hype AF

Re: Manga and Anime
I impulsively decided to watch One Punch Man on Netflix yesterday, and I've been binge watching both seasons since. I even subscribed to crunchwhatever for the second season. Never thought I'd get hooked on this type of show. Then again, I loved HunterxHunter.

Re: Manga and Anime
Just finished reading Sunny. Best thing I've read since, like, 2016, easily.
Also just found out after finishing it that it's autobiographical, guy that made Ping Pong grew up in an orphan home. He's definitely a top 10 mangaka of all time IMO.

It's really popular amongst non-anime fans for a reason too. It's so entertaining and never a dull moment.

He probably is. Ping pong is an all time great show. Hoping sunny gets made into an anime too.

The animation is so bad in season 2...
The cell shading... oh lord. Feels like it has been designed by a group of highschoolers in a basement
