I notice no one mentions Rurouni Kenshin, maybe because its old. Did anyone watch it? my favorite anime growing up. Then a few years ago I read the manga much better, definitely my favorite manga, just amazing.

Yeah its almost always the case, specially if they release the anime when the manga isn't finished and just do a bunch of filler.

With Rurouni Kenshin the anime did wonderfully for the first 2 seasons but then instead of finishing up the manga with the last arc, they just made some shit up and it sucked in comparison to the previous stuff. That manga has the best closure for the whole cast and story of any I've read (or anime I've watched).

I agree with rincon and think your next series should definitely be FMA Brotherhood. And The Last Airbender and The Legend Of Korra are not anime but they are still one of the best animated shows ever.

Cowboy bebop hasn't aged well at all IMO. Watched episode 5 recently, which has the iconic cathedral scene, and during it all I could think of was how pretentious it was. I think its too 90's/20th century for young people these days.

I cant not see tantei monogatari in it. Which I knew that was what he was going for, but it is still weird all the same.

Been reading a manga called Bartender. Absolutely incredible so far. I've known about it for years but put it off because it was really behind and slow on translations, but now it's only about 15 chapters from being fully translated. I'm about halfway through and it's most likely in my top 5 already.

Another series like Mushishi where the basic premise is just a backdrop to tell heartwarming stories and life lessons. Much like Muhishi though it's not something you can blitz read.

I am absolutely floored. Its up there with my favorite anime movies of all time. Shinkai outdone himself. Funny, heartbreaking, heartwarming. Animation was beautiful too. Hit all the right notes.

I still prefer The Garden of Words & 5cm Per Second and think they're better crafted films but Your Name was his most enjoyable IMO, really solid and easy to see why it was a ridiculous smash hit.

I am pissed I didn't wait for 1080p though. It looks gorgeous on the 1080p trailer I saw on YouTube. Will download it when it comes out. Blu Ray release date is 26th July.

caught up with some manga called Ajin last week, known of it for a while, I find the concept really cool, execution is just pretty decent, the overall cast is kinda meh but the main villain who features prominently makes it well worth reading, one of my favorite villains in recent memory

Yea I read up till the hospital invasion. Pretty good manga. But author is a bit inconsistent with the characters, agree that the cast is meh. Main character became a tactical cold hearted genius when he started off as a pleb. Villain is very good though.
