Bayern Munich Vs Arsenal
Allianz Arena
4th November 19:45BST
Despite beating them at the emirates, Allianz is just a different place to go. Specially when Bayern actually need to win and have all their players back and are looking to avenge the defeat 2 weeks ago.
I doubt we can get anything tomorrow. I'd be a bit hopefuly if Ramsey, Walcott, Oxlade and Bellerin were there. But without them we lack nearly every important tool we need to get something from the match.
I don't know how ugly it will get. Could be a 4-0 defeat or a 1-0 defeat. But I doubt it's going to be a win for us. A draw is the best we can hope for and would honestly take that. It will at least get us to 10 points in total assuming we win against zagreb and olympiacos.
So yea. Don't blame anyone if/when we lose tomorrow. Just hoping we avoid any more injuries since the Spurs game at the weekend is miles more important.
Possible Team
-----------------------------Cech----------------------------------
Debuchy---------Mertesacker-----Koscielny-------------Monreal
-------------------Coquelin-------Cazorla-------------------------
Joel--------------------------Ozil---------------------------Sanchez
--------------------------Giroud--------------------------------------

Re: Bayern Munich Vs Arsenal [Champions League]
Honestly without Bellerin I'm expecting no positive result, just hoping it'll be respectable.
Clean sheet is gone with the introduction of Debuchy and I can't see us scoring from open play with Giroud up front against Bayern's highline let alone twice to get a win. Our best hope, our only hope is goals from set piece, Giroud/Koscielny/Mertesacker header or a perfect Alexis/Özil freekick delivery.

Re: Bayern Munich Vs Arsenal [Champions League]
We got nothing to lose, got 3 points from Bayern, when we all thought would be 1 or 0. Not worried about starting Debuchy, Costa had his way with Bellerin in first game anyways.
We got this, as long as we stay alert and focus, hopefully the refs keep an eye on Dutch diving team captain.
Not afraid of Bayern, we have been here before.

Re: Bayern Munich Vs Arsenal [Champions League]
There've been strong rumors that it might be Gibbs that'll be starting tomorrow as Joel can't be possibly starting for the third time in 8 days.
Now this is a conundrum for AW.If only Gibbs could RW he could be playing there and supportinh Debuchy.I believe that Sanchez & Monreal can stop Robben. And Sanchez is no Joel when it comes to tracking back.Alongwith his sudden position change he'll be forced to track back much more.
I hope AW has a trick or two up his sleeve for this game.I Wouldn't mind 5 @ the back to be honest.Gibbs and Debuchy as wingbacks and Monreal,Kos & Gabriel as CBs.The midfield and the attack remains the same with Sanchez playing as SS.If this was the case,we would remain deep, defend & try to counter or unleash whatever subs we have(yeah,Adelaide) late into the game & see what can be done.
With these many injuries,a draw wouldn't certainly hurt us.I hope there are no further injuries & Belle recovers to face Spuds.

No Bellerin? The task has just gotten a lot harder for the Gunners.

Oxlade, Welbeck, Rosicky, Arteta. While you're at it.
Very much expected tbh.
We've had our moments, mind. Just needed a bit of luck, which we have not made for ourselves.

Re: Bayern Munich Vs Arsenal [Champions League]
cba to hope.
We screwed up the easier games majestically in a typically Arsenalesque fashion. The fact that we got 3 points against Bayern at home was always only a bonus and nothing more.

Re: Bayern Munich Vs Arsenal [Champions League]
I didn't even watch the second half
Horrible, horrible display. I know we have injuries and losing Koscielny and Bellerin so close to the game hardly helped, but still, there was no effort or discipline in that performance at all. You knew things were going to go to hell quickly when Gabriel didn't play offside with the rest of his backline after 8 mins. Then Debuchy makes a mistake for the second. We got blitzed down the flanks as neither Campbell or Alexis could be arsed to track back. And Thiago had the freedom of the whole pitch.
I mean, these games are hard enough when you're playing the game of your life and defending like mad. When you make mistakes like that you've got no hope. 5-1 flattered us.
Of course, Olympiakos had to go and score a last minute winner. Means we now have to beat Zagreb at home, hope Bayern beat Olympiakos, then beat Olympiakos by two goals on the final matchday. It's still doable but our record in Greece isn't good, and knowing us we'll get within a single goal of progressing at not get it.
Hope this doesn't effect us too badly mentally, we get Kos and Bellerin back, and get back on track with a win against Spurs.
EDIT: Also, why the hell did Alexis and Ozil play 90 minutes? It's like we're asking for more injuries.

Re: Bayern Munich Vs Arsenal [Champions League]
really disappointed with the overall performance, i expected a bit more fight. Being well organised and difficult to beat for the first 30 mins or something but we were a shambles. I know its a lot to ask but the players who came in for the injured ones were really average, Gabriel, Debuchy, Joel etc. They are going to have to raise their game because we will need them in key games or in case of rotation at some point this season. If that's the best they have to offer then I guess we don't have much depth and they are simply making up the numbers.

Re: Bayern Munich Vs Arsenal [Champions League]
Why is there so much freakin' negativity in here?
Yeah,we got our asses walloped but by whom?
This is one of the best teams in the world right now ffs.
I agree that the we lost was totally shambolic but we all knew before we had zero chances of winning especially with the makeshift defence and the invisible right side.Even the eternal optimist,AW said he'll be happy with a draw. So,this match should/can be considered to be an exception esp since Bayern were seething after our win over them in Emirates.
I hope the players and fans see it this way.Just see this match as another WHU 2-0 defeat. And we did manage to bounce back and we will this time too.
And who says we're already out of UCL?And that our qualification is not in our hands?
Come on you people honestly believe we won't qualify?
We win both our games with the Olympiakos game won by a 2-goal margin then we're through. The equation seems simple and straight forward to me.
We've won against them with players like Santos and Chamakh starting and with our current XI we definitely can IMO.
The only issue that worries me is our horrendous record in Greece and that we may not have best XI for this game due to existing/new injuries.
But then no English team had defeated the mighty Madrid,Dortmund and the Milans away from home and we did do that so I believe this is the perfect time to change our poor record in Greece, which is this poor mostly due to the game historically been just there to make up the numbers and we were starting players like Tom Cruise for us.
There is still reason for optimism. We did defeat Bayern and we will defeat Olympiakos by a two goal margin now that the players now our European qualification is on the line.
Further,I dunno why there is a craving for EL eventhough it is sarcastic.Playing on Thursdays and then on weekends will ensure Arsenal have more players in the treatment room than in the bench.
I believe our focus should now be on NLD.With the Spurs playing well(or atleast defending well) and having the second best defensive record thanks to their Belgium CB pairing, this match has the makings of a cracker.
Last season was horrible for us wrt NLD.We got screwed by Flamini the first time and our tactics the second time.
But this season we've started with a victory over them in COC.So,I hope our streak continues and we end their undefeated streak this Sunday.
P.S. Also I believe we deserved this defeat for wearing that abominably bad looking kit.I believe we've lost every time we've worn it.I hope we ditch this circus tent kit for ever.I thought AW will have a second half jersey change a la Fergie yesterday.
