John Stones Watch
Disclaimer: Haven't ever really seen him play. My interest in watching Everton, awoken by their late 2013 win at Old Trafford, faded after Moyes got sacked as Utd manager. Just thought I'd make this thread as a peace offering to the Dear Leader.
Anyway, one can hear great things about this kid. For now, this quote suffices to let me hop onboard
Thoughts?
What will his future bring?
Should he move?
If so, where? Manchester United, or Chelsea? I.e., the devil or the deep blue sea?
Would he look good in Lederhosen?

Re: John Stones Watch
The guy barely has 50 appearances in the Premier League. He absolutely needs to stay at Everton right now.
He probably is the best young centre back England have at the moment, but he gets extra hype for being a ball-playing defender. That's where the Ferdinand comparisons come from. Unfortunately, he has a bad habit of hanging onto the ball for too long and overplaying a bit, and can be caught out.
Chelsea, United and City will be his options if he develops well.

Why not Arsenal?
Would be better for the English NT too if he can gel with his the majority of his England teammates in everyday club football

We've already got Calum Chambers, and likely wouldn't be willing to spend £30mil+ on a centre back unless Wenger rates him really, really, really highly.

Re: John Stones Watch
Is Chambers planned as a CB?
If I remember right, even in midst a central defense crisis situation Wenger played Monreal there last season while Chambers was used to fill in at RB?

Re: John Stones Watch
He's going to be a centre back now because of Bellerin. It's his best position, anyway.

Re: John Stones Watch
Would you have preferred to get Stones over Chambers (availability/money aside) ?
I.e. who do you think is better?

Stones is overrated, hoping he goes to ManU to continue their tradition of buying promising English center-backs who never seem to come quite as good as expected.

Porbably second best CB at Liverpool behind Sakho, if only Rodgers wasn't in loved with Skrtel or Lovren.

Re: John Stones Watch
Good players don't get relegated two seasons running and have absolutely zero impact while the team goes to shit i'm afraid.

Re: John Stones Watch
Loaned out the last 2 seasons to Granada and Bordeaux. He's a bit injury but otherwise is yet to make his debut for us outside of friendlies.
This summer was a good chance for him to get a shot at the starting XI in preseason but his wife had a kid and he was at the U21 Euros so missed the whole preseason
Anyways I've seen enough of him to know he's better than donkeys like Skrtel and Lovren.
Sakho is very clearly our best CB but Rodgers has him playing second fiddle to Lovren so with that idiot in charge not playing doesn't really tell much about a players quality.

Gtfo Moal, you couldn't spot talent if it slapped you in the face a la David Brent.

Re: John Stones Watch
hardly any. at the time we signed him he was classed as a very good up and coming cb. lots of teams were looking at him. but like lots of others before him. didn't turn out as good as first thought. another player that don't fit well in the EPL.Hapless_Hans wrote:Don't call me James wrote:Hapless_Hans wrote:Who is Ilori?
