Re: Arsenal are back
It's just FA cup and the community shield, but Wenger does seem to have his early 00's swagger back. Even down to avoiding Mourinho....thats the old Wenger. Not the geriatric guy who sat back and took it when Jose called him a specialist in failure.

'Specialist in failure' was when Arsenal broke their trophy drought and won an FA Cup while Chelsea as 'little horses' finished with nothing to show, right? Guess the geriatric guy sat back and let his team do the talking at the end of the season.

Re: Arsenal are back
So, here's a question to the community:
- Was the hype around Arsenal premature and based off of a single, "solid" performance against one of their "bogey-teams"?
*OR*
- Is the backlash following their opening week defeat to West Ham a knee-jerk reaction to one bad result against a team that is much further along in their preparations thanks to a competitive schedule that began on July 2nd?
I would tend to lean towards the second option. I think Arsenal will be right up there in the title race. However, they need to get their strike-force going. Giroud looked a bit off the pace against West Ham, and Walcott didn't exactly set the world alight against Chelsea. In both "competitive" matches thus far, it's been the midfielders for Arsenal that have seemed to pose the most danger to the opposition defense. Alexis' return and Giroud getting up to Premier League speed should alleviate these issues.

Re: Arsenal are back
I know my team well enough
Honestly, it can never be something definite with us.
Today's game should have been 3 points. But I think the team genuinely underestimated West Ham overall. Our fitness level was shocking compared to West Ham. Our composure, quality and patience were all lacking. We are often blamed for passing the ball too much but today we made wrong decisions after another due to rushing the ball forward without building up play properly.
I still believe we have the squad to challenge for the title. Today's performance was a one off. However I don't think we will win the league without someone like Benzema upfront and someone like Javi Martinez in midfield.
But we'll see.

Tbh I have to disagree with RG on this one, and here's why. Today's game should have been 3 points. But I think the team genuinely underestimated West Ham overall. Sextuple isn't in doubt. Yesterday was just a blip, Benzema will lead them to the promised land & cement his place in history as the greatest Algerian/Frenchman of all time.

What makes West Ham's victory so much more impressive is that they did it without Carroll, however, I'm not getting off the Arsenal hype train this easily, the title is still coming to them.

I take 4th place trophy now, cant take those last few games where Liverpool and Spurs are closing in and we have to win all our games to the trophy.
