I think we sometimes forget that Flamini did well on his return for the first 2 months or so.

That pivot with Ramsey in the early half of 2013/14 was energetic and somehow effective at times.

As much as we all trash him, he'll be remembered more fondly than people let on once he leaves. Three FA Cups, two Community Shields, helped us to a UCL final, 218 apps. Not a bad servant.

It just shows how a below average player can make an instant impact at Arsenal. Laughing

Do you honestly believe either of them is worth 130K/pw?

I believe G-rude needs a pay raise but not 50K increase in wages(Read he's on 80K pw) and Theo too not more than 110K imo.

Is there much difference between £110k p/w and £130k p/w? How can we determine if a player is worth an extra £20k p/w or not?

When the club has so much money, the amount seems almost irrelevant. As a club, we no longer need to haggle as much over wages, and at this stage it's more important to keep the squad together. If that means overpaying on wages slightly, than so be it. As long as we don't go overboard I don't see much of a problem.

I think Theo is still underrated by vast sections of our fanbase to be honest. With the way things are going, wages only really go upwards. So, it's not a question of matching wages by the rates today, but putting it in the context of wages over the period of the contract.

And assuming Theo signs a 4-year deal, this would be more than justified. Besides, he commands the Englishman-preimum as well. If he looks around and see new kids around the block like Sterling making more than him, he would be right from his perspective to also look for a pay rise. We'd be bumping him up from about 110k p/w to 130 kp/w - nothing compared to the guys who're earning north of 200-300k p/w over at Manchester for example.

Also, Giroud. Don't see why it is so blasphemous. Iirc, in his new contract, Ramsey was already knocked up to 120 k p/w one and a half years back.

Also, I've seen people complain Giroud's new wage would be similar to Ozil's and Alexis' but when we renew their contracts they'll get wages close to £200k p/w, so it's not like we'd be breaking our hierarchy.
