Found this interesting, now i don't personally have much issues with performance in Witcher 3 but it doesn't just apply to that.

I was going to get a SSHD anyway because games take up too much space for the default hard drive, but if a SSHD improves performance ( which it does) then it's definitely worth it IMO.

Especially with all the open world games coming up.

A typical 7,200 RPM hard drive will get 150MB/s on its very best day. A consumer SSD will max out the 6Gbs Sata port with 500-550 MB/s read and write speeds.

That's already 3/4 times faster.

Then there's the new PCI-E based SSD's, currently only really within enthusiast rerach with 2.3GB/s Read speeds. For comparison, a Bluray drive has 36 or 72Mb/s read speeds/


Note the difference between GB and Gb. A Samsung 950 Pro is more then 10 times faster than a Hard Disk Drive and 160 times faster than a Blu-ray drive.


It's pretty moot though if your hardware can't handle the data transfer rate - SATAIII is going to limit you to being a mere 40 times faster than a Blu-ray drive xD

I heard SSD doesn't make a massive difference on PS4 anyways.

So I went up to look that up and HOLY FS. The PS4 HAS A SATA II PORT?!!!!

You're right, it wont make enough difference because SATA II can't handle modern SSD's speeds. Heck, SSD's have been hamstrung by SATA III for past couple of years...

Who in their right minds would put a friggen SATA II port in a console for its main HDD and then have USB 3.0 ports which don't support game storage?! (USB 3.0 is 5Gbs vs SATAII 3.0Gbs)

Because they are going to introduce another PS4 in 2 years which will have 'revolutionary' console technology aka SSD supported PS4s

They said they could, doubt they actually will though.

Battlefront will be going up on EA Access in a few hours, I'll set my XBO to auto download so that the game is ready for me to play when I wake up.
