Schalke: 'Draxler last-minute deal'

Schalke denied Julian Draxler has a deal with Wolfsburg, but told worried Juventus “it’ll probably go on to the last minute.”

The situation exploded last night when Wolfsburg suddenly emerged as contenders for the 22-year-old midfielder, matching and even surpassing Juve’s offer of €26m plus €6m bonuses.

“The door is not yet closed, as we had extensive discussions on the transfer of Julian Draxler throughout Saturday.

“We will have to address the issue further. But we will also take the necessary time in order to make the best decision for the club,” director Horst Heldt told the official Schalke website.

“As of Saturday afternoon, Juventus had not made an official bid. The media claim Wolfsburg have a deal? That is not true.

“We all know what has to happen. A transfer has to be completed before 18:00 CEST on Monday. After our discussions on Saturday, it appears as if we are heading towards a last-minute decision.”

Heldt also flatly denied Bild reports that Draxler had joked around with the Wolfsburg players after Saturday’s Bundesliga defeat and asked how he looked in their jersey.

Juventus need a creative midfielder and cannot wait until deadline day to get an answer from Schalke 04, so are turning to other targets instead.

Wolfsburg need to replace KDB, their favourite prey is quoted as "young German internationals", they have the money and can offer Jule Draxler a free role in attacking mid (which he craves and doesn't get at Schalke that way), and he can stay in the Bundesliga, so it is not unlikely they go for him in earnest.

It’s widely reported Julian Draxler has signed for Wolfsburg, sparking the fury of Juventus fans on social media.

The Schalke midfielder had been in negotiations with the Bianconeri for months, but last night Wolfsburg emerged as contenders and quickly struck a deal.

Italian and German sources are adamant Draxler has already agreed terms with Wolfsburg and will undergo a medical today.

Juventus fans did not react well and flooded his Instagram account with abuse.

So we weakened our midfield without having any replacement lined up, we destroyed our ability to play 4-3-1-2 and we can't even close a deal for Draxler because we fuked around with 15M offers for a talented young German player who's the clubs star.


So even if we do sort something out and allow Allegri to play 4-3-1-2 again, the fact is we've still had to play our first 2 games with a ridiculously makeshift squad.

What amazes me, is that Marotta actually came out and made some bold claims about getting a TQ type player, and here we are in match day 2, the window about to shut and whatever our plan A-Z was, it failed big time.



I am not usually one to go nuts and Beppe is usually on top of this stuff, but for the love of God after our best season in well over a decade we've just ruined our primary formation and weakened our MF

I still have a faint hope that SOMETHING will happen but lets see when the summer mercato closes.
