Juventus ‘ready to pay’ Strootman release clause
07/08/2017, 11:15
Juventus are willing to make another huge signing from AS Roma. The Serie A giants paid Miralem Pjanic’s € 32 million release clause sealing his transfer from their Serie A rivals. Twelve months later they could do the same as Dutch paper AD.nl reports the bianconeri want to pay Strootman’s release clause.
The Holland International has a € 45 million clause included in his contract with AS Roma and Juventus are reportedly ready to match it.
Juventus are looking for midfield reinforcement and given their struggles to sign Matuidi, N’Zonzi or Emre Can, they have now set sights on the former Psv star who joined the Olimpico hierarchy in a € 17.5 million deal in summer 2013.
The 27-year-old, however, seems determined to snub a move to the Allianz Stadium as he wants AS Roma stay.
Strootman doesn’t want to imitate his former teammate Miralem Pjanic who was hugely criticised by his former fans when he decided to swap the giallorossi with the Old Lady.

I reckon he could be persuaded easily enough
Only way for Roma is down, they had years to strengthen but as clubs around them have invested this Summer they're losing players.
If we did get Strootman, and he was fit, we would finally have a legitimate midfield again.

Licht --> Cancelo
Asamoah --> Spinazzola
Lemina --> Kovacic
Yes i like those full backs for what they represent to this club, but i'd be content enough with those 3 last moves. Together it won't cost more than 20 mil for 3 improvements.
Probably Strootman's release clause will lead nowhere, he hates Juve as much as Nainggolan and he'll be loyal to Roma. If you ask me, thank lord there are still players like that in this world, even if they do so to the detriment of Juve fans.

I don't want Strootman join Juve. He's a good player but has missed lots of action for Roma due to injuries. We better find another player for that 45m price tag.

Juve forum has been relatively quiet for a few months compared to years past. So I'm stepping out of the shadows to step up. Hello.
So far so good with transfers.
Spinazzola and/or Cancelo would be good to add. I alway liked Asamoah but if he's to go, the team would need someone to cover for sure. Even more so if Licth is leaving too.
On Strootman, if he were to say yes, I would honesty feel bad for Roma. Would be a real kick in the balls for them. And on top of it, I think he's the exact sort of player needed. He is strong, powerful, able to break play, and can carry ball forward. Pjanic, fit Marchisio, and fit Strootman, with fit Khedira coming off the bench would be solid af.
But fit is essential and I am concerned about his injury record, especially with the predisposition of our own midfielders. I am also a little uncomfortable having two starters in the midfield who started for a Roma only two years ago. They're professionals and all, but feels a bit mercenary-esque. Thoughts?
And who else for the midfield? Matuidi, N'Zonzi, Can? No, no, and definitely not good enough.
Kovacic, while not ideal, might be our best bet. Do you guys think this is realistic?

Welcome, good to have you here.
It's all realistic, just not very exciting. All of names (including Kovacic) don't sound too good. Only Strootman but that's probably not possible.

Yeah i'd go for Kovacic, best option available really. Matuidi is slightly worse but he would be my second choice. At least he has a LOT of experience at the highest level.
Nzonzi seems as provinciale as it gets. Emre Can't i won't even bother talking about him, bidone.
In any case, we won't add anyone glamorous in our midfield.

This has been an incredibly strange summer for me.
Now it looks as if we're moving Asamoah to make room for Spinazzola, which would improve us but overloads the left a bit. Both Sandro and Spinazzola are very capable players, worthy of starters.
Kovacic is intriguing but we have to make sure if he is signed there's no buyback option. I would hate to see a Morata situation happen again. If we sign him, and he comes good and develops, it should be by our terms alone. He would be a suitable option in the middle and I would complete this signing in a heartbeat but it doesn't really address our midfield concerns.

I would save the money from Cancelo (or whoever else) if Spinazzola will come. Sell both Licht and Asamoah. Use the extra money for a better midfielder (or player) as Spinazzola is actually right footed and can play both flanks.
Sell Rincon, Licht and Asamoah and make like 30m. Plus the 18m from Lemina.

I think that we will keep Asa because Atalanta don't want to release Spinazzola this season.
Btw, I would rather keep Licht, because I do not trust MDS
.. He played a terrible game against Tottenham and kept giving them the ball for free...

Re: - | Transfer Talk | Rumors | News | -
Kovacic won't be a starter imo, he comes as 4th/5th option depending on Bentancur's level. Juve has chosen its path: keep the same starters and improve the bench. A better strategy than statu quo obviously, yet like all of you guys i don't find it satisfying.
Shame we couldn't sign any of the best targets at the CM position. Plenty of them were "available" Tolisso, Matic, Carvalho, Fabinho, Keita of Leipzig, Krychowiak... all guys that can take the 3rd CM spot and relegate Khedira (arguably a B+ player) as first choice sub, 4th option. That's what i call, an ELITE midfield. Instead our focus was on Emre Can't all summer long and last week Liverpool deemed him intransferable. Talk about a loss of time.
Kovacic is still an unfinished product, hopefully we give him a chance. His mentors are Kroos and Modric, this is something to not neglect. Out of their shadow i'm curious to see how he performs, chances are high that he has improved from Inter days.
This is my evaluation of the quality of our midfielders, from the most important to least important in Max's notebook.
1. Marchisio (A)
2. Pjanic (A-)
3. Khedira (B+)
4. Kovacic (B-) or Matuidi (B)
5. Bentancur (?)
6. Sturaro (D)
7. Rincon (C-)

Sell Asamoah, keep Licht, buy Cancelo.
RB 1: CANCELO RB 2: LICHT
LB 1: SANDRO LB 2: SCRUBLIO
Let Spinazzola stay at Atalanta for a year since they want him so damn much Cancelo has 89 pace on Fifa, i've said it before but it's important to mention it again.

I still think Licht and Asa need to go. They're terrible. What's the point of 'depth' if your depth look shit in any game at any level.
They need to be replaced this Summer.

I agree. Its why I think Lemina was always pointless. Depth is not useful if its a trainwreck and you fear whenever they have to play. Asamoah for me is that. Licht isn't. He isn't so terrible, but not particularly good. If both can be improved on then please do it Marotta.

i haven't watch a single pre season game
but i don't remember them being sooooo bad last season. Licht still has the grinta and could be a decent back up. Asamoah still has the... mmm... what does he still have again... i don't remember... ok maybe it's time to leave.

Lemina officially off to Southampton
Agreed with Warrior and Rincon. Licht can be backup, for now.
Why do you think we didn't go for Fabinho? DM, RB - two birds, one stone. Is he off to england, and we decided we didn't want to compete with prem money? Or Juve management not convinced of his quality?

We only had 1 non-EU spot. It was Costa (a sure deal at the time) or going for Fabinho.

Buy Fabinho and loan Bentancur
Catania used to have at least 15 argentinians in their squad, how much non-Eu is allowed ?

Loaning Bentancur wouldn't work. Unless we had never registered him as our player. Once you bring one in, it doesn't matter if you send one away, you already used your spot.
The limitation isn't how many players you have in the squad (like catania), it's on only bring 2 per season.

A lot of those Argentinians probably had Italian passports too, something to keep in mind.
I think I'm inclined to agree with brother @rincon on an earlier matter. I wasn't aware that Spinazzola could play on the right, Zambrotta for real. Spinazzola in with Asamoah/Lichtsteiner out would be fine with me.
Moving Lemina is a great move for us and him, I wish him all the best. He just didn't have it to be a starter and was basically useless as a squad player.

Yeah, iirc Spinazzola was a right back before Conti's break through pushed him to the left.

Juventus €25m for Emre Can
By Football Italia staff
Reports are growing rapidly in Italy that Juventus have chosen Emre Can for their midfield and are closing on Liverpool’s €30m (£27.1m) asking price.
It’s no secret that Max Allegri has requested a prestigious reinforcement for the middle of the park after losing the Champions League Final to Real Madrid.
La Gazzetta dello Sport already suggested on Tuesday that Juve were leaning away from Blaise Matuidi of Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi towards Can.
Wednesday’s front page story for the Corriere dello Sport claims the Turin giants have been in “frenetic negotiations” with Liverpool for the German international.
The Corriere insists Juve have offered €25m (£22.6m), which is close to the €30m asking price.
Can is only 23 years old, but his contract with Liverpool is due to expire in June 2018.
