didn't cesc play plenty of games for arsenal at 16. but my point was. he needs more games than I think he will get at Madrid. they have some top class players so it will be hard to get any games for the first team.Hapless_Hans wrote:When's the last time a 16 year old kid played 15-20 games a season for a top league first team?

Don't think Cesc played a league game before he was 17. And Cesc is a player that became a starter remarkably early, he's an exception rather than the rule.
Usually youngsters start getting game time around 19.
Obviously it's tougher for a youngster at Real than at probably any other club, except Chelsea lol.
But then Ödegaard knew that. He'll have to work his way in like everyone else.
Up until 18, 19 years, imo it's enough to play mostly for the second team and get a few minutes first team football now and then.
After that, either he ready enough to get enough time, or more likely he has to be loaned out to grow, just like with any other youngster.
We'll see, but he chose his own destiny.
Point is, crunch time will only come in 2,3,4 years.

We really wanted him too. Our board was deceivingly optimistic ffs.
But look at it this way.
Better he joined Real's youth only to then find out it's too tough to break into their first team - then Liverpool can get him.
Better than if he comes through Liverpool's youth, has a promising debut season for you, then gets his head turned by Real and you have to deal with losing another prospect.
Trust me it's better to get players after they've played for Real, they have no silly dreams left.

Agreed but i really dont know why he moved out of his country so early in the first place.
I know you need top club exposure and all but he was always going to get it anyway.
Seems like his father wanted to push him into stardom very early i suppose which isnt exactly wise.

His family owns a successful clothing store that sells decently expensive suits, shirts, dress pants and whatnot. That's the only picture I could find of the store. I doubt they were in need of money, to begin with, unless you're assuming that they're just greedy As for why he left the country so early, I'm assuming they saw it as a once in a lifetime opportunity. Had he stayed, the chance may have been lost forever. Also, I have no doubt that he'll develop more in Spain, than he would've done in the Tippeliga... even if the third division pitches are really ghetto quality compared to the pitches here.

LOL I have just noticed that in the past 2 years not a single Barca player has ever won the La Liga Player Of The Month Award: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Liga_Player_of_the_Month
Ronaldo just won it for May when he missed the crucial penalty that effectively knocked Madrid out of the title race while Messi scored the title winner in the Calderon.
Uncle Flo.

Re: La Liga 2014/15 Discussion N. Cuatro
amazing drama at last day of Segunda
Girona conceded a last minute equalizer at home to Luego, allowing SPORTING GIJON (my fav Spanish team ) , direct promotion back to La Liga on 3rd anniversary of Manuel Preciado's death.
Osasuna also avoid relegation with a injury time equalizer at Sabadell. Great stuff !

Trying to become Mourinho I see. He has nothing to complain about with his team never ever getting the cards they deserve for their unsportsmanlike conduct. Disgusting coach and team. Hate them so much more than Barca, which I really don't mind anymore.

I think he's just saying that Madrid will blow the budget, like they do every summer. Don't see what's disgraceful about it.

No. He means that the refs and the entire organisation will favour Madrid as they do every year. They do everything they can for the great capital club to win.

Re: La Liga 2014/15 Discussion N. Cuatro
Refs favor big clubs in general tbh, always makes me laugh when i see fans of the elite clubs in a particular league complain about refs.
You all get away with murder on a weekly basis, try supporting a mid table or relegation team you'll then see what ref favoring is really like.

You should have 0. Barcelona were denied 10 at least 50/50 penalties in a row 1st half of 11-12, now calculate the probability of no bias involved.FalcaoPunch wrote:Nice. 1 liga in 7 years... these refs are doing a splendid job helping us.
Situations like these were so regular then
2 goalkicks, cost 2 points against Valencia.
