You should have 0. Barcelona were denied 10 at least 50/50 penalties in a row 1st half of 11-12, now calculate the probability of no bias involved.FalcaoPunch wrote:Nice. 1 liga in 7 years... these refs are doing a splendid job helping us.
Situations like these were so regular then
2 goalkicks, cost 2 points against Valencia.

The 11/12 was a concert of calls in Madrids favour. Smh.

Isn't Sporting Gijon the Stoke of the Spanish football system? I remember they were thugs the lat time they were in La Liga.
Don't think anybody should be happy with them coming back up.

WTF. Don't insult a great institution like Gijon ?! One of the oldest teams in Spain, with amazing support.
Also, what's wrong with Stoke ? I didn't know a team of thugs can beat us 6-1
The only reason you're comparing the great Gijon to the proud Stoke is that their kits used to look similar, but Gijon have gone full red.
Mourinho spread the word that Gijon are thugs, because he was too butthurt that the late Preciado and the fantastic Gijon broke his unbeaten home record with an inspiring win at Bernabeu.

Yeah, Sporting don't really have any reputation for being thugs tbh.
Also, the correct words are "Puxa Sporting" Sepi. Cheers.

Were'nt Gijon the ones who broke Mourinho's near 10 year undefeated home streak?

Yes, but Mou's butthurt about Gijon came before that. He said they and other Spanish teams laid down to barca, before Madrid visited Sporting, that pissed Preciado off, but Madrid won the game. It was later in the season that his record was broken, and he was actually quite humble about it.

lol at rebano, i remember that. for what its worth they made their peace and became cool by the time preciado had broken mou's home record. mou's comments were that the league becomes a sham when other teams just lay down and let barcelona beat them (to be honest, sometimes i feel teams don't give their all against them. but on the flip side, i'm sure barcelona fans feel the same way about us)...gijon lost 1 nil to them, and i think preciado made a substitution mourinho didn't like, which to him signified preciado wasn't interested in getting a result from the game, so mou made the comments. preciado would follow up a week after when we lost 5 naught to barcelona, talking about the league becomes a sham when we ourselves laid down....lol i was so pissed at his comments, but i like managers who don't try to play the humble card and aren't hypocrites, so i took it as tit for tat....all's fair

btw, Girona is 1-0 up on Zaragoza away. Looking forward to seeing another Catalan team in the first division if Girona can win the playoff promotion. Plus Peps brother, who is an agent, is rumored to be taking over the club. Not sure if they would invest or what in it
Edit, they are 2-0 up now

Re: La Liga 2014/15 Discussion N. Cuatro
That's a nice cliché about the "big clubs getting all the calls" but I don't remember the last time Barca got as many bullshit penalty calls as Madrid in a season. Game-deciding ones at that. It's not just that Madrid get so many more calls in the box quantitatively but also the timing is always perfect. Let's look at the penalty calls that Barca got this season:
6-0 game against Getafe.
6-1 game against Rayo.
5-0 game against Levante.
6-0 game against Elche.
5-0 game against Elche.
8-0 game against Cordoba.
Not a single decisive penalty, all against fodder teams to make up the stats. Now let's look at Madrid's penalties:
1-1 game against Villarreal.
2-1 game against Valencia.
against Barca when it was 1-0 Barca.
1-2 game against Atletico.
2-2 game against Valencia.
against Malaga when it was only 1-0
against Celta (that famous Ronaldo dive) when it was 0-0
How do they get so many calls against top teams in tight games and Barca doesn't?
You have to be a bit delusional to believe a team that represents a separatist region in Spain will not be in a disadvantage against the capital club from Spain with Spanish refs in charge. Just look at Pique getting the shit whistle out of him while playing for Spain by Spanish fans because he made a bit of fun of Ronaldo, a Portuguese Madrid player.
11/12 was indeed the pinnacle of Refdrid. It fused with Mourinho's ref pressuring tactics so you ended up with the ultimate robbery. Will never forget. This happened every week:

Teams do lay down for Barca, or they give up easily if they are in a bad moment. And indeed its the same vs Madrid.
Mourinho was wrong to complain about that incident you speak of.
Teams who are trying to avoid relegation very often in La Liga have taken out some of their better players against Madrid and Barca. If for example they play Wednesday vs another relegation team, they want their best players fresh and without injury for those important games..rather than having them chase the ball for 90 minutes 3 days before against Barca or Madrid, just to lose anyway.
Its a questionable tactic, but it wasnt new.

Futbol stahp, watch every Newcastle game for a year and then come back to me lol.
Actually don't do that as you'd probably commit suicide but trust me you are all heavily favoured it's not even up for debate.

I could agree with other leagues, but surely not in Spain. You have to consider that except basque referees, we only get spanish referees who are 80% Madrid fans. It's quite documented that there's a bias against Barça. Now, I'm not saying that Barça will consistently get worse calls than a bottom club, but will definitely get consistently worse calls than Madrid.
@Futbol, are you sure Madrid only had 7 penalties this season? That seems very little for the record holders of penalties.

Madrid had 13 penalties this season in La Liga. I just posted the tight ones where the penalties became very much decisive for the outcome of the game (which can't be said for a penalty in a 7-3 game against Getafe for example).

What can you say about the penalty from the first Clasico ? That was a clear handball.

It's not so much that I'm saying all of Madrid's penalties are bullshit calls. It's that I don't see Barca getting these sort of calls as easily as Madrid in big/tight games regularly. Last season's 4-3 Clasico was probably the one big exception with 2 penalties in Barca's favour. Other than that I don't even remember the last time Barca received a game deciding penalty in a tight game. The list I posted says it all. All penalties in 5-0, 6-0, 8-0 type of blowouts this season. In 11/12 Barca got 3 penalties from August until March. Then after the league was already lost, Barca magically get 4 penalties just in the month of May. Not suspiscious at all.
