Only if Di Maria is sold below his book value would it count as a loss otherwise it won't.

I am not sure of the exact numbers but Di Maria was purchased for €75m and signed a 5 yr contract so taking amortization into account divide the fee by the no.of years on his contract which comes around to €15m per year.

For United to avoid a loss they only have to sell him above his book value so as of this year it would come around to €60m(subtracting his transfer fee(€75m) with amortized fee(€15m) and if I am not mistaken PSG have purchased him for €65m ?

If so, technically, United aren't selling him at a loss in this case.

man u paid 59mil for him. paid him over 200k per week for a year. then sold him for 44mil. they didn't loss much out of him. but they did lose money from him.
