This reeks of show planning to use Brotherhood Without Banners more and then they scrapped it because they did not have enough time or saw they were getting too many characters. Like when Tyrion said he was going to wed Myrcella to Doran's youngest son and then show Doran having only one son. Same with the Tysha exposition and Tyrion talking to Theon about his uncles in season 1.

I really hope GRRM releases TWOW before Season 6 man.

I wonder if Ser Barristan gets killed in the battle of mereen. This death might be a spoiler from there.

The problem I have with the "not enough time so must condense storylines" is that HBO and GRRM both want more seasons, surely D&B could get 8 or 9 seasons out of it if they stuck to the original plot?

Oh well, too late now.

Jane Johnson(GRRM's UK Editor):
WHAT? #GameOfThrones Not loving these huge divergences. Read the books if you want to know the story the way the author intended it.

Good. F**k this show and it's dumbass changes. I'm looking forward to seeing the proper take from George.

After seeing the garbage the show is putting out, I'm now willing to wait as long as necessary.

I'll have to see where D&D are going with their made up plots first before deciding that. If by the end of the season the show has really gone down the shitter and the divergences D&D have made turn out to produce terrible and nonsensical results, then yeah, I'll quit the show.

I've learnt from my past mistakes where I applied the sunk cost fallacy to shows that had clearly gone to shit, like Dexter and Lost. I won't be doing that again.

With Jon on this

I lost quite a bit of interest when they cut off lady stone heart last season.

But this season is slowly but steadily draining all the interest. I hate the way they are leading the show atm.

I'll see how this season goes.

A lot of people saying that if Melisandre is leaving with Stannis, then that means they are completely changing the Jon's death incident.

Theory is that D&D will make Lady Selyse try to burn Shireen to revive Stannis after they receive the pink letter and then Jon will try to stop her. Sending Shireen, Gilly, Sam and the baby to old towd. Jon will then get stabbed by the royal guards or something.

Meh, I still enjoy the show very much, the Stannis scene with Shireen brought tears to my eyes I'm not ashamed to admit. I'm watching the show with a positive mind and I'm not comparing it with the books constantly because I realize how hard the showrunners have it to please both the book readers and only show viewers - they have to make changes like these so the show doesn't drop a level like AFFC/ADWD did after ASOS. And they don't have many of the benefits GRRM has, like creating a dozen new main characters in the middle of series, introduce us with other places without bankrupting HBO.

Really guys, the season has started incredibly strong and it's only going to get better from E5, just thinking about events like Margaerys/Cersei's arrest, Walk of Shame, Varys' murders, Hardhome, Yara's capture, Daznak's Pit, Tyrion in Meereen, Stone men encounter, Jorah getting greyscale (a theory but very possible), Arya going Mercy on Meryn Trant, Battle of Winterfell, For the Watch etc... this season has the potential to be the best one yet.

I can see the attempt to burn Shireen as possible because it's been foreshadowed, but Jon is getting stabbed by his own brothers, Aliser Thorne, Olly, Bowen Marsh (who's been cast) will get all stabby stabby on Jon for saving the wildlings in Hardhome while losing many NW men.

This is an interesting point, although it's not sure at all whether he gets revived via Mel in the books, it's just a popular theory.

Olly stabbing Jon is a popular theory. Olly gives real dirty looks when he hears the word "Wildling" or "Freefolk" I mean they did kill and eat his parents last season...

I don't know about resurrection but I know Brienne is killing Stannis. Combine Brienne's "I'm gonna kill him" with the emotional father/daughter scene Stannis got...yep it's happening.

It's not GRRM, it will be a show only thing like Barristan getting killed by the Sons Of The Harzoos. Brienne is far far away from Stannis in the books but the show decided to cut of Lady Stoneheart for whatever reason and now will make their own Brienne story of her killing Stannis.

Remember the last time someone said I'm going to kill someone in the show? Right, Oberyn Martell who got his head smashed in. Or when Catelyn and Robb vowed that they would "kill them all". These death wishes are almost never fulfilled. That scene was a clear misdirection, it was put in to remind viewers that she hates Stannis so when she's faced with the decision to kill Stannis or save Sansa by JOINING Stannis she will choose what's right, of course saving Sansa. It'll be a nice callback to Jaime's "So many vows..." Very Happy

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Brienne and Pod take Mance's/Spearwifes role by helping Theon/Sansa escape and get flayed by Ramsay considering what the actor who plays Roose said "We will do some horrible things to nice people".

With Urban and his stance on this. I made my peace, as a book reader, with the decisions D&D were gonna make this season when I found out it wasn't going to stay true to the books. This show is slowing evolving and sometimes that hurts.

They weren't going to make everyone happy and as showrunners they knew the book readers would be that group. Me personally, I am still enjoying this quite a bit. Who knows? This might just improve characters that were not all that good in the book or are struggling on the show.

I hope we get "Don't make me rue the day I raped your mother" from Roose.
