Re: Arsenal Lobby
Think it's only right that Diaby is released. He has been injured almost 50% of his Arsenal career. That shouldn't be allowed to continue.
Re: Arsenal Lobby
So easy to forget the context, when we feel entitled to bitch about the club today.
Trascripts, courtesy Arseblog, on Keown interviewing Wenger:
________________________________________________
Did you have chances to leave?
2004, 2005, 2006…I had chances to leave, of course. I went for the club with a challenge to build a new stadium without dropping out of the Champions League three years out of five. That was the financial request. We made it every year. I knew that that period for the club was a very sensitive period and I feel I’ve done my job in a very committed and faithful way.
One day everybody has to leave this club, it happened to me…
It will happen to me.
What condition to do you want to leave this club in?
In a strong, healthy position. That means a club that has good players, good youth [coming up] behind and a strong financial position to go further up and develop even more. I will do that, you can believe me. The guy who comes in after me is in a very strong position to deliver something exceptional. I believe that biggest quality first of a top, top club is to maintain consistency in the results. I hope that when I’ve left some day and come back to the Emirates to watch a game that I’ll be very happy to see a quality team.

So basically the board was expecting to be playing in the Europa League for 3-4 of the last ten seasons

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Can you really blame them? I find those expectations very realistic tbf. Note that 'the financial request' was to make it 3 out of 5 seasons in the CL.
This at a time when the sport became more about rich owners and bankrolled clubs, while we were locked down in long term deals.

I'm ing the fact that it shows how little we know of the inside operations. Wenger could have been performing within expectations to miss out on CL football for four seasons, just goes to show how well he did with little resources in that time period.

Don't see why not. The Barclays Asia Cup is on the 15th and 18th of July; The Emirates Cup is at the start of August.

What happens if Everton win the Europa league? would they take the 4th place spot? or EPL would get 5 teams in CL next year?

Re: Arsenal Lobby
That's BS Two.. We should be walking all over them, no matter what we get.. Look at our squad ffs..
Like I said earlier, we have figured out how to deal with long balls, crosses, etc and sacrificed the skills to deal with high pressing teams.. Even Crystal Palace and co give us a run for our money doing that.. I think there were 3 instances in the space of a month where we struggled to deal with those tactics.. Of course, we will learn to deal with it after a few more months, when we will forget how to be solid defensively in the process.. We can never be a well balanced side..

+1 nice thing to bring up.
It's like we can't put one or the other just for storage in the subconscious to bring back forth when we need to use it instantly. Rather it's a whole 3/4 games process to get it a particular style back. If you analyse our play over the last 3 seasons you will see that clearly.

I thought the tactic was right, even fans said so. Prior to the game, everyone wanted City copycat tactic and we did get that, too bad our players were just completely shit. So yeah I guess u're right in the sense they looked like Hyde cause we made them to be, same thing with Monaco

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Monaco was just.... I want to say a blip but that would be too mild..
It's like a Final Destination movie (I mean the earlier ones, of course).. All is going perfectly fine and out of nowhere, BAM you're smashed into a squishy pulp. But miraculously, the next day, the pulp magically reforms into what it was earlier, not unlike a T-1000 (ref: Terminator 2).

Re: Arsenal Lobby
By the way, most people are speculating that Arsenal would need to win their remaining matches in order to overhaul Chelsea for the League title. It’s a bit of a fanciful ask considering the fact that winning the last 9 matches would extend Arsenal’s current win streak to 14 matches ad no team has ever won 14 consecutive League matches in a single season.
The 2001-2002 Arsenal side won 13 in a row to finish that season off (and then one the first match of the next season to take the record with 14 consecutive) but no one has ever won 14 in a row in a single season.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
I fully expect us to win our remaining nine games, break the consecutive win streak record, but still end up a good few points behind Chelsea.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
This squad is capable winning anything, capable beating anyone, I think a top 3 finish and the FA Cup would set us up for a real title challenge next season.
We said that last season but our squad this time is superior and doesn't need an important addition to get there, just a bit more depth with Arteta/Flamini/Diaby all possible leaving. Would prefer to keep Arteta but can't predict who would stay or go.

Is there an international break coming up? Who are the guys called up, who will potentially add to our injury list?
