Was AVB sacked too soon by Tottenham?
I think we've just witnessed with Liverpool this season how hard it is to just sell your key player for huge amount of money and use that money to buy a lot of new players. In this season's first months Liverpool and its new signings struggled as much as 13/14 AVB's Tottenham, or even worse than that.
The only difference is Liverpool stuck with his manager and now Liverpool just won against the same Spurs for the second time in a row and is the most in form team in the country.
And what was the point of his sacking anyway? They didn't bring a new manager right away, so why did they bring a caretaker for the remaining months of the season? If he was expected to save the season or to do better than AVB he clearly failed. When AVB was given a full season he set a new club record points in the PL playing scintillating football and missing the CL by just one point and he raised Bale's value twice of thrice of what he was worth before he took over to the point that he left White Hart Lane for a worldbreaking fee.
If they gave him more time and a Harry Kane upfront he would be beasting it and breaking record after record like he's doing in the Russian Premier League.

Re: Was AVB sacked too soon by Tottenham?
He wasn't garbage in his first season, he set a new club record points, raised Bale's value to a worldbreaking fee, missed the CL by just one point. He was bad in his first months of the second season, after Spurs sold Bale and bought many players with that money because they needed time to gel together and understand AVB's football.
See Liverpool, pretty much the same situation, after a splendid season they started the new one even worse than AVB's second season and with all the new players underachieving, but as soon as soon as all the new players settled in they've become the most in form team in England and just beat AVB"garbage, the sooner he's out the better"less Spurs twice in a row.
And they didn't sack him to bring Pochettino right away and start a new project. They sacked him for Tim Sherwood, a mediocre caretaker for the remainder of the season who did even worse than him. Sacking him that early was a bad move from every point of view.

I'm not sure if AVB had done enough to keep the job (keep in mind he had been fired after his team conceded 11 goals in 2 games). At the same time I think anyone can recognize that it's nonsensical to invest 100m into someone's project only to fire the manager within a few months.

Anyone stupid enough to play a high line with John Terry on the team deserves to be sacked.

Re: Was AVB sacked too soon by Tottenham?
I'm not even debating his coaching merits or his spells in other teams (altho other than failing at Chelsea he did achieve a treble with Porto and is doing well at Zenit) just if he was sacked too early by Spurs or not.
And sacking him after few months after that he led Spurs to their best season in recent times, camouflaged Bale as worthy to be the highest paid transfer of all time because he needed time to find a new system without the key player they sold and for the multiple new players he bought to adapt (same situation Rodgers was facing, the only difference is he was given more time so he was able to fix it and make Pool the most in form team in recent times) and letting a caretaker manager takes charge till the end of the season who did worse than AVB was absolutely unjustified.

Re: Was AVB sacked too soon by Tottenham?
He hadn't really done enough to keep the job but it was a stupid decision to fire him at the time. The team would have been better off with keeping AVB till the end of the season. Instead the rest of the year was a circus with a lunatic manager and they didn't get CL football anyway.
At least keeping him until the end of the year would have offered stability and a platform for improved performances.
The entire thing was poorly done really, but yeah I can't really say he didn't deserve to be sacked either, he kind of had it coming.

Bale raised Bale's value to what it was. Bale set a new points record for the club. AVB is a dilettante and a fraud whose sole managerial achievements have been dependent on superstar players having astronomical seasons (Falcao and Hulk, then later Bale), and his successes in the Portuguese and Russian Leagues you reference are merely proof that they're just about his level as a manager.

Re: Was AVB sacked too soon by Tottenham?
You mean the same Bale who no one wanted before AVB came and that has been labeled as shit player that everybody at Real Madrid wants out deserves all the credit but AVB deserves none? And guess what, every manager's achievement have been dependent on superstars, you can't do well if you don't have good players and winning the Portoguese League, Portoguese Cup, EL in one season where Porto was undefeated is indeed very impressive and not a fluke done by a clueless manager.

What are you talking about? Bale has been a sought after player ever since his inter hattrick. He was not a nobody before AVB.
