I imagine they'll wait till the end of the season to hire any big names.
Looks like they're just writing this whole season off, likely no CL, millions wasted on AVB and squad in need of massive investment.

Pity, he is a good manager, it just that to rejuvenate a club it needs a while and apparently Chelsea isn't giving it ago... they are digging their own grave.

No surprises, Roman was never patient guy. I think he shouldn't sack Ancelotti, it's not coach fault, Chelsea has too old squad, they need rebuilding, let old players go. AVB will find new job in the summer.

Andre Villa-Boas has parted company with Chelsea Football Club today.
The board would like to record our gratitude for his work and express our disappointmentthat the relationship has ended so early.
Unfortunately the results and performances of the team have not been good enough and were showing no signs of improving at a key time in the season.
The club is still competing in the latter stages of the Uefa Champions League and the FA Cup, as well as challenging for a top-four spot in the Premier League, and we aim to remain as competitive as possible on all fronts.
With that in mind we felt our only option was to make a change at this time.
With immediate effect Roberto Di Matteo has been appointed first team coach on an interim basis until the end of the season.

Pathetic. Absolutely disgraceful move. I really think think has a lot to do with the player power of Lampard and Drogs who continuously play crap and now sitting at their home with a smile on their faces. I've lost a lot of respect for them.

It will be interesting to see how the Chelsea team reacts to this. Di Matteo is going to replace him until the end of the season, but I can't see that being more than a temporary appointment. The rumors of Benitez being already contacted to fill the position seem to be utterly false. (Way to go Daily Mail...) I suppose we'll have to wait and see if he does indeed end up in the Chelsea hotseat. I personally have trouble seeing him there, but you never know.

Get rid of Lampard, Cole and Terry. They are a cancer to any manager that gets the job.
AVB is a great manager, I feel for him. He just unfortunately became a manager of a club that is run by players.

This vindicates the arguments I had about Chelsea simply not having an intelligent long term plan, and the fact that Carlo's sack was a massive mistake.
Carlo, who had the respect and love of the players, was the person who should have been trusted with creating a legacy and not some fresh greenhorn who is barely older than his players.
Again, Roman proves the effects of sugar daddies that don't understand the game on the game.
