It is a good result, but not great as ATM are not just park the buss team. If they are allowed to play their game they can hurt us bad. I am not convinced we are playing that good consistently TBH. This season was 2-4 good games 1 catastrophe. So, if another catastrophe is about to happen, my money is on ATM causing it.

PS. I consider us favorites to advance, but not by a GREAT margin.

So yeah 1-0 already. Not a great result!

suarez would of been in the bad list if he didn't give that assist.

I think it's good for Iniesta, that you don't have to be insane to make an effect. It enables him to concentrate more on the transition of attack and defense, which is important on itself. I have this 100/100 if the other is 1 shimmy that doesn't produce anything.

I guess for what Enrique wants it works, but you will never see the best Iniesta when he spends most of his time close to the touchline and halfway line. You can't blame him for not producing the Iniesta performances of yesteryears tbh. I think he should be allowed to go inside a bit more and help Messi.

Idk maybe i expect him to help neymar like rakitic does for messi

whenever messi cuts inside rakitic takes the rw role, iniesta isn't new to the lw so maybe he can change up with neymar..

but then again it has to do with alba overlapping and alves lately not.

Dont see how you can say that Messi was great and the likes of Alves,Suarez and Pique average.

average is not bad? just nothing spectacular unless you can point something out that they did..

messi was involved in two of the goals but no point in even debating him with you, nor suarez your opinion no matter how good/bad he plays your opinion will always be the same.

pique and alves though were alright in defense, pique did good to clear set pieces so i'll give him that but he and alves kept getting out paced in certain situations hence the average.

his highlight reel of the match, other then the assist he was very meh..

but i guess my expectations of an 80m+ signing is too high compared to you guys.. he had 0 shots on target playing the center role..

He was not meh.He held the ball up well,brought others into play and was crucial for the counter attacking football we played.Put it simply,the route one football doesnt work without him.We lose the match without Suarez and golden boy Messi would have done jack to prevent Atletico pummeling us.Just like he could do jack against Atletico in 6 attempts last season.
Suarez played better than Messi.I could go play by play to prove my point.
Lets start right at the beginning.Love how Masch is being blamed for the first Atletico goal when it is golden boy Messi who should be blamed.Masch played a good ball to Messi.All he had to do was move a couple of yards to receive the pass.
But no,his highness couldnt be bothered to move and the ball gets stolen and we get scored on.Predictably Masch gets blamed for playing a good pass and the golden boy gets shielded and praised.

Imo, messi was great bar that and suarez was average at best. If some of us can honestly say suarez has been great throughout this campaigne so far (even while being meh at best), i wonder what you'll say when he starts banging in the goals, maybe say he's better than messi then?

No he was not great bar that,atleast not better than Suarez, Pique and Alves.I can accept that he was at par.What I cant accept is when someone says Messi was great and the other 3 were average.
I now understand and sympathize with Mehdrid fans who defended Benzema all these years while others were criticizing Benzema and praising CR.

Looking at it objectively,Messi costs us a goal.It could have been really costly and maybe even cost us the tie.Suarez didnt make such a blunder.Messi also misplaced a lot of easy passes.But that is easily pushed under the rug for the golden boy while Suarez is criticized for the same.
Suarez sets up Neymar with the pass of the game.Suarez's hold up play is brilliant throughout the game.Suarez sets up Neymar on the counter with a brilliant flick towards the end of the first half(completely takes out a defender and sets Neymar free with that one flick).With a better pass from Neymar,the move could have resulted in a goal.
Suarez was involved in the 3rd goal by providing good movement.Was also scrapping with the defender forcing him to score the own goal.
And all this without even mentioning the intensity and pressing he provides.

Suarez had 1 good pass and that is it. He lost all the balls he got. Here is his highlights vs Atletico. In second half he didnt make a single good pass and ruined some attacks which messi built

Highlights only show what you do with the ball, not without.

Here is Messi highlights vs Atletico. When he got the ball he did something dangerous won fouls made through balls and dribblings.In the first half alone Messi created more than Suarez created in the last 5 games

you did not get my jokes i was saying how can you put suarez in the average list when there is another level below that....

So no one wants to go play by play.Figured as much.
I guess the summary would do.Messi did jack in 6 games against Atletico last season and we fail to win a single one.
Suarez comes in and we win of 3 out of 3,with him being the major reason we won.
But by all means,lets continue the Suarez hate.
