Re: Martin Ødegaard discussion
Has Odegaard ever even played as a CM with similar duties as to Modric or not? Because otherwise he shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as the great man. I've always seen Odegaard as mostly an Ozil/Juan Mata "CAM" type figure .

I already mentioned that he’s been injury prone. His few performances have been liability- level poor. Blame them on his injuries or lack of fitness if you want, still exceptionally poor in his decision-making and overall contribution. And let’s not pretend that his league stats from last season reflect a player who’s actually consistent enough to warrant a 100mill+ price tag. That’s all french world cup hype.
Dude, stop turning into Chad with clear agendas with nothing to back them
I am pro-French obviously.
Right
But I don't character assassinate other players as a way to push my preference. As an example, I loved Pepe.... but I thought Varane's time had come and we needed to decide on a direction; nothing against Pepe. Same with Ferland Mendy; he gives us a different look to Marcelo. But that doesn't mean Marcelo isn't Marcelo. With Courtois in goal, we can't afford to allow too many shots on goal.
Now I understand you want Odegaard at Madrid. I agree. But that doesn't mean you have to spew nonsense about his potential competition.
I don’t particularly want Ødegaard at Madrid, but I understand that some people so. I’d prefer if he went to Liverpool or City, for his own sake.

Odegaard doesn't have the physique at this point for the EPL. He should stay in La Liga regardless imo. It's much better suited to his game.

Regardless of where he ends up, I’m sure he’ll be fine.

Re: Martin Ødegaard discussion
Extended highlights was used but I say this again, Odegaard is legit our best Modric replacement without having to resort to buying someone outright.
- Spoiler:
- The most apt replacement for Modric would be Pogba but Lord knows that man is a fragile instrument.

I won’t mind it if we get the most apt replacement this summer. Might as well get it out of the way. I hope that leads to Ødegaard moving elsewhere, though. Liverpool would be perfect. That’s his favorite team, even. The people who endorse him coming here can eat crow, though. I’ll be incredibly obnoxious when he plays poorly for us.

Re: Martin Ødegaard discussion
The way the season is progressing (I say this with tongue in cheek as IMO it’s still too early to predict), there may not be many changes next year, other than the desired galacticos signings of Mbappe and possibly Pogba.
We still need to see more of Militao, Mendy, Jovic. Modric, Bale, James likely going. Ramos and Marcelo stay another year. I suspect Vinicius and Brahim go out on loan. Asensio will be back and Rodrygo likely stays.
Meanwhile the youth is generally developing well (Odegaard, Reguilon, Achraf, Kubo, Ceballos) and another year where they are isn’t bad. There is a question mark about Lunin, he still isn’ t playing much!

I’ll remember to quote this if he ends up in the Premier League in the near future.
He bulked up quite substantially while in the Netherlands. I don’t agree that he doesn’t have the physique to make it in the PL, but the only way to confirm that is by witnessing him actually play there.

You can always build on physique, that young man has the fking skill to succeed any league he ends up in.

Exactly. Just needs a year or two to fill out a bit. He's not the fastest... and EPL allow muggings. So he needs to hold defenders off.

Can you stop crying over the kid already? Who cares where goes? I don't care how good he is not bigger than club and loan has done him some good, just let him grow as player be starter in a season or 2, casemiro and other have been loaned still had success with the club.
If ode wants to sod off to Liverpool hope you follow out the door, every time a player is little skilled and hyped, the first thing is to down the players currently on the team, it's not like ode was mind blowing against Madrid either he was ok.
this reminds of isco and pogba, everything said about ode has been said about isco yet when he sucks ass, everybody ignores it just claim he was great anyway and pogba cause everyone said the team would regret not signing him but the team turned to be just fine, ode is a good player nothing to cry over, a lot of young mids like ode went on to stay midtable their whole careers, after failing early at big clubs I'm sure the club know more about grooming talents than some dude on the internet.

Crying? That’s fucking rich coming from you I know what you’ll be posting about next year, as well as the year after that, because all you ever do is suck Benzema’s dick and whine about Isco. Every. Single. Time. I would have thought you’d be diagnosed with mental retardation by now. Then again, your parents are probably slow as well. Good riddance.

Re: Martin Ødegaard discussion
So can this kid play ACM akin to Modric or De Bruyne or not? if he's nothing more than a CAM akin to Ozil or Mata then he should go elsewhere. I'll tell you this though, he will end up playing for us atleast 1 season, Flo won't allow otherwise.

TMO... he can't play as a forward. Definitely a CAM or CM. Very good option in a 433 imo.

Alright, I won’t mention Ødegaard in this section again. I would appreciate if you, TMO and Sports tell me directly the next time you think I’m crying about something, as opposed to showing consent through thumbing up that absolute knucklehead’s post.

Timmy, I would never give that schizo a thumbs up, I have him blocked actually. Anyways, I've been reading Jonathan Wilson's Inverting the Pyramid and he confirms what should be common fact by now, and that is that modern football wants more AMs like Modric and less like Ozil for example. I wish the best to Odegaard but I've seen footage of him playing for years and he's never excited me precisely because he seems too Ozilian.

He has more work rate than Ozil and his passing is elite. I like him a lot. I just don't want him to come to Madrid too early and stop his progress.
Just like I think Mbappe is probably better off staying at PSG the next 3 years or so and learn to lead a time since Neymar will be gone. He's never had to do it for a full season believe it or not. At Monaco, it was Falcao. Griezmann for France. Neymar with PSG. Mbappe only had to be the leading man for months at a time...

Alright, I apologize for using the two of you as examples. Generally speaking though, I appreciate direct feedback as opposed to hiding behind likes/dislikes.

Re: Martin Ødegaard discussion
There is not such a thing as "EPL physique" nowadays. May have been true before but they signed so many foreign players it got diluted. If Bernardo Silva can look like the best player in EPL with his physique, then so can Odegaard.

the only problem with that argument is bernardo silva does not use his physique in any way playing for city.Mr Nick09 wrote:There is not such a thing as "EPL physique" nowadays. It's not a problem because Odegaard doesn't use his physique to play as well.
