Interesting prospect, I dunno how good he'll be but I think Spain should have some decent depth at Right back with him and Carjaval in the future.

Martin Montoya Di-GRSF

He's really fast I think, runs quite strangely though, like on his toes or something. Very Happy

He might turn out to be a good player but he has some mountain to climb to be the next Alves, who is the best fullback I have seen.

Yeah I'm not actually serious, I don't think he'll ever be that good, but I think he's a good player.

A well deserved promotion as he really has been the pick of reserves players and is constantly performing. He will playing for sure against the average teams and is useful as he can both play on the right hand and left side. He will be also be a great prospect for the Spanish team in a couple of years time as they are lacking defenders.

Montoya  Has been solid every time we have played him, he was playing so well last year too but picked up that injury. He even took a shift at LB when Alves came on  Our Arbeloa but with attacking ability? Very Happy

Very solid. He reminds of Abidal. With one fullback attacking the other needs to help the defense. He does that and when he senses the opportunity to attack he does and creates havok like Abidal. He is very usefully as he can shift from one end of the pitch to the other without showing any discomfort. He has been brilliant and definately needs respect. Yes, I guess he is like Arbeloa but his ncorssing imo is better (Im talking about Montoya)

Perhaps not. Maldini, Roberto Carlos, Thuram and Cafu have all achieved plenty with their clubs and country and being an important member of their squad. While Alves has been part of why Barcelona have been so successful in recent years, he has yet to perform well in seleção.

well by the time i started watching football maldini already shifted to cb.but going by reputation he is seen as the best sideback ever along with nilton santos..of the players i have seen i think carlos ,thuram and cafu are a bit better than alves..but may be for barcelona alves is better than them..as he is a better passer than all of them

How can you compare this guy with the greats? He has mainly been playing in the youth. Definately as Pep said, a bright guy for the future.

Montoya is a fantastic player, Barça & La Furia Roja are set at RB for years to come...He's not quite Dani Alves going forward but as close as you can get while still being a through & through cantera kid....Seems to glide past defenses with ease and crosses the ball in like Dani used to

Dani still does that when we play in a 4-3-3, the 3-4-3 is detrimental to his position. I wouldn't really judge him on his last 2 games, they were essentially meaningless and he is Brazilian after all.

Dont care about his Brazil games as the entire team has underperformed for a while. Not Alves fault.
I have not seen any other fullback dominate an entire flank on his own like Alves has the last few seasons. The one who came closest was Carlos but as good as he was going forward,Alves offers more going forward.
having Alves is like having an extra man on the field.Guy has been the best RB in the world for like 6,7 years now.And for those who lay stock on the performing for other teams requirement, his Sevilla exploits are there.
Guy is a freak.

Maicon performed much better in the same Brazil squad, I actually remember Dunga ditched Dani Alves for Maicon after his mediocre performances in South Africa. I'm not saying Alves is not a great RB but to be rated as highly as a legend such as Cafu he needs to perform far better in Brazil and he has failed to do so - so far.

I'm not fond of things like "best RB in the world". I believe Sagna, Maicon, Zanetti and Lahm played top level football for a long period of time and deserve to be up there with the likes of Dani Alves.

His crossing is brilliant and well he doesn't miss an opportunity to bom up the line. He is also very good coming back and as you saw in the first clip stopped a few chances. I like him very much and he is tall also so its could that we can rely on him to win those high balls...
