Prospects of World Football Empty Prospects of World Football

Post by Curtinho Wed Jan 07, 2015 6:35 pm

I just thought it could be interesting to see different perspectives from people who watch football other than the 'big' established leagues with the world's best players. I know there are at least a few out there that like to watch developmental leagues (u21s, UEFA Youth League, Eredivisie, etc.) and form opinions on young players that haven't quite broken out yet or are a ways off. Mostly this stemmed from the discussion in the transfer thread about Sterling vs. other u21 players that might have potential to be as good as or better than him.

So go ahead, compare, talk about who you think could be WC in the future, or even top 5-10 in the world material. Post videos, analysis, etc. Always fun to speculate about how immensely talented youngsters will progress.

I used to like to watch Eljero Elia aka black Robben, he can still be a star.

but my favourite young player is Mbaye Niang, next Thierry Henry imo.

Vietto is a good shout to become the next Aguero

Dybala looks like the next Maradona

Januzaj is the next Enzo

that young Inter CF reminds me of young Batigoal, world class talent

Hector Herrera is too old to be the next anything, scrub

Firmino is the next bebeto, so good

Barkley is the next Gascoigne, future goat

am i doing this rite?

Indeed. He's someone that was touted as the next Aguero (like many young Argentines) a while ago, and Liverpool were linked with him in the last transfer window (though I doubt there was any legitimate bid or contact over him). Argentina has some really potent strike options coming up with Icardi, Dybala and Vietto all looking very good and producing at a young age.

Didn't realize he was doing so well since his move across the pond.

If there's one player I'm 99.9% sure is going to become world class in the future it's Abdelhak Nouri. 97 born Ajax prospect who has been dynamite at every level and for the NTs. Exhudes confidence, leadership and skill. He's impossible to take the ball off of, can take a decent shot and is extremely tactically sound with a great workrate.

I think of Luka Modric with Nouri but I think he's (Nouri that is) more bullish and commanding. Very slight right now, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's playing for the first team at Ajax before the end of the year. For my money he's already better than most of their players.

Milan's Mastour is an interesting prospect , however i am not really willing to say much more. He still has a really long way to go. It's quite obvious how talented he is , not mostly hype like Niang is.. now , into what kind of player he will turn into , i am not sure i can tell as of now. He has certain characteristics , especially his ball control and dribbling , his adventurous nature as a player , but there have been players like that before who never really made it . Obviously i hope he does develop to be a great player , it's not out of his hands that's for sure. And Milan will have a real gem in our hands then .

A gem that Galliani will heartbreakingly have to sell for 70m one day Proud

Aleksandar Mitrovic (20) is going to become one of the best strikers around or at least a very good one if he can find more consistency (even though his goal scoring record is already good, but I know he can do much more with the talent he has) and fitness. But I'm sure it will come with time, he's still very young.

Tin Jedvaj....he's with Leverkusen on loan from Roma currently and looks a top defensive prospect. Good size, good on the ball, reads play well and can pass out of the back.

We're willing to let him go for 10m. I'd prefer to keep him, but that would be good business anyway since we got him for half of that last season.

Zouma had another top game today, he's been great whenever called upon since September. If he can improve his already decent decision making, he'll become a top CB.

Beyond that, Chelsea has a few top talents, Lewis Baker is a very good goal scoring No.8 + No.10 hybrid. He has just moved to Sheffield Wednesday on loan, so if he gets game time there, expect him to impress.

Jeremie Boga is a very skillful attacking midfielder who, at times, looks levels above most youth teams. He has a great shot, good pace and is often touted by Chelsea fans as the guy who should replace Salah in the first team.

he is/was the biggest prospect for Feyenoord U16 and also for the U15/U16 Holland when he played for them, but still early to tell how he will progress. Think he left Feyenoord a bit too early, since it is the best youth academy from holland (Chong, Vente, Malaica, Joshua). He is strong, good with headers (has the height), decent finishing and good fk's. Not very good in tight spaces, due to his height I guess, not a Aguero/Silva/Leo with low gravity ofcourse. Arsenal and Everton (Koeman) were also after him. I think he will be doing fine but i dont know the competition he is up against in U17 Germany (internally and in matches). He played for ADO and Feyenoord, wich is not Cruijf's style of play, so I'm not sure how his passing and positional play is and how he would fit in your style of play.

Well, one will now start for FC Barcelona, while the other is scrubbing it up at Deventer
