I like the sound of the gameplay. This and No Man's Sky interested me.

An open-world RPG game based on characters and places from norse mythology would've been beyond awesome.

Shame it flopped.
Doesn't count. For the love of god, don't ever mix the terms futuristic sci-fi and norse mythology ffs.
Skyrim? Bullhorn helmets and LOTR- inspired names =/= Norse mythology But yeah, would've been great if they had made something similar, but with more in-depth inspiration from norse mythology. I mean, there are tons of awesome gods, weapons, artifacts and places that they could use. Several games in the past have adopted certain things from norse mythology, like legendary weapons, mounts and whatnot, but I've yet to see a modern game that completely embraces the mythology.

Re: Playstation Experience
Anyone know what the gigaton bigger than SFV was meant to be? Because I'm reading through the announced games and I see no gigaton. The journos hyping it up were clearly full of shit.
The FFVII port backlash on the internet right now is hilarious though.

Re: Playstation Experience
E3 wasn't any better tbh, we saw trailers/gameplay of things we already knew about plus a load of indies.
At least as far as Sony is concerned, 3rd party of course E3 is better but this is a Sony event so that's natural.

Re: Playstation Experience
This is how I see the Playstation experience.
If you are an avid playstation fan. If you love your PS4 and primarily play your games on that system, and maybe your vita as well, and don't do much gaming on other systems these days, this was a spectacular conference. They announced game after game that you'll enjoy playing.
However, if you were on the fence about the ps4, and not quite sure if there is enough their to make you want to run out and buy it. This did absolutely nothing to sway you. Nothing showed or announced at the PSX did anything to change peoples minds about the system or make you view it in a different light in any fashion. If what you already knew hasn't sold you this wouldn't either. And to me that is a bit of an issue.
To me, I feel like Sony is operating like its the 8th year of the PS3 rather than it being the second year of the ps4. Just assuming, "Hey you already own it and like it so here you go".
And I guess thats fine. I mean they are selling a crap ton of systems. But for me when they are having so much success I'd like to see them take more risks or do something more interesting. Bring up some nostalgia, bring back some old franchises that made Sony successful in the beginning. Or if you are making a sequel in a certain franchise, do something vastly different with it. They seem to happy to just keep going with certain series on set paths and don't do anything to shake up the way they look or play. I mean Uncharted looks great and all but it looked and played pretty much exactly like I predicted it would. Sony is just being far too predictable these days. Each new installment to their first party studios or games is predictable. When they show off a game we've already seen, there isn't much to anything new or different about it no matter how many times they show it.
Seriously how many times have they showed us The Order, and No Man's Sky, and how much do we know now about them vs. the first time we've seen them? Almost nothing. Sony is very poor at how they deal out information and unveil projects over time.
They announced some new things, and I know I'm getting into subjective territory here, but Sony's first party offerings have been far too inconsistent recently for me to really get all that excited about them. They've allowed to many games to release and not work, or release and simply be mediocre/terrible and its pretty unacceptable. Outside of Naughty Dog, their first party studios are riddled with incompetence.
Overall as someone on the fence with the PS4, and Sony, and not totally loving the direction of the company or system at the moment. This conference did nothing to move me. I'd just like to see them do more risk taking. Or make more games that look different or play differently than past iterations but I feel like everything that gets talked about is so insanely predictable I find it hard to keep much interest.

Re: Playstation Experience
Xbox aren't taking any risks, either. Granted, they did risk pissing off a lot of their consumers by setting new rules with regard to the ownership of their games, among other things, but that backfired heavily on them.
With the last generation of consoles, Microsoft did almost everything right, and they probably felt that they had such a firm grip on the pool of consumers, that they could start a gradual plan of monopolizing the console market. It really didn't work out for them, but I'm sure it would've been more successful if their console had been as superior as the Xbox 360 was.
I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have removed the online requirement for games if the Xbox One had proved, for the second consecutive year, that it offers a significantly better overall experience. Most likely, neither of the companies will budge, unless they feel that going out of their way to top the other one, is a risk worth taking. With the PS4 leaping in front of the Xbox One in console sales, there's absolutely no incentive for Sony to take unnecessary risks.

Re: Playstation Experience
MS became arrogant after the 360 succes. Same thing happend with Sony when they released PS3 at €600.
They learned from their mistake and are now selling PS4 like hot cakes & nearing the 50% market share.
