Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
mata is a much better player when he shows courage. The thing is on most days he goes sideways and backwards. If he can do what he did today; at least try to play balls forward, try to penetrate, he is such a talent and an asset.
Van Gaal must be working on him its safe to assume.
And i think this is the first time he has shone without the presence of a player of similar wavelength alongside him on the turf, doing one-twos with him. So fair play to the dude and more of that please.

Newcastle is the worst team we'll play this season, they can't even stand in a straight line

Di Maria has something wrong with pelvis, sounds like he's out for the Spurs game. I hope Herrera and Fellaini are back though.

allowing fletcher more than 30 mins to play could have turned really bad for us today. Thank God nothing disastrous happened. LvG need to stop that obvious substitution. Its fine keeping carrick fresh for spurs and taking him off after we scored the 3rd. but Fletcher clearly aint the answer now in that midfield. He should have brought in Pereira instead and dropped mata into the cm role.

Yeah, Fletcher was pretty bad today, maybe it's time to retire? I feel bad for saying that. Carrick was poor today too, Perez waltzed past him twice. Carrick still has something to offer though, unlike Fletcher.
@Lumiere Fellaini, maybe? I'll give it to Young though, has improved a lot.

We're gonna play 3-5-2 against Spurs, and we're really bad under pressure in it. Spurs will play with a lot of energy, and I fear this is the game that will end our run. Unlike Arsenal, Spurs don't have a mental block playing us. Really want to beat Spurs this time.

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
actually if mata can play like he played yesterday we are suddenly a whole new team while attacking. Whenever we have struggled its because of that connection from midfield to attack going missing. And seeing the efficiency of our attacks lately i am not much worried about scoring. its just keeping possession and effectively winning it back while of course remaining solid in defense. Rooney as a cm is also doing well.
Still Definitely want rojo back for the game as evans doesnt merit a place in that 3 man defense now.

need to stop some of their in form players like Kane and Erikson. Spuds lately always does well against us. So I am equally worried about this match too.

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
Stop Kane and Eriksen, and we'll be alright. They will be more worried about our fire power, and like us, their defence is poor. They have been grinding out wins on a consistent basis due to those 2 players.
We'll be alright and should have enough to get the win. Saying that though, our away performances have been shocking, especially playing the 3-5-2.
Added bonus- We don't have evra for Lennon to terrorize.
Keep Fletcher far away from the squad.
Luke Shaw travelled with the team, could be in contention to start or play a part at some point. With Rafael back, we could revert to a back 4. I know Smalling has a great chance of starting and marshalling our defence- very good news.
They'll come at us with speed and intensity in the opening minutes. Hold our resolve, hit them on the break, and we'll hurt their mediocre defence.
i remember when these lot were our bitches. Need to get normality restored, starting from tomorrow.

V Spurs(a)
Same starting 11 that started against Newcastle.
Shaw on the subs bench.
3rd consecutive start for Falcao.
I would have started Smalling instead of Evans.
Cmon United!

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
How are we not 2 or 3 goals up ffs. We've looked by far the better chances, but unlike previous games, we've not been clinical enough. RVP being the most guilty.
Falcao looks knackered, struggling out there by the 30th minute.
More of the same next half, but we need to put away these chances. We've put in prolly our best away performance of the season that 1st half.

I haven't been able to watch it properly, but RvP really should have scored. Need to put these chances away.

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
FT 0-0 fair result in the end. Game of two halves. We tailed off in the 2nd half, became tired, rooney and Matas influence from the 1st half diminshed. We defended well though, thats the plus.
But, the moment we create chances for fun like in the first half, our attackers decide to leave their scoring boots at home. ffs. We should have killed them off in the first half.
Mata was brilliant, as was Young.
Falcao had a shocker though. Poor guy looked dead on his feet out there.
Just one of those days where that extra bit of luck went missing in front of goal.

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
RvP and Falcao seemed poor. Idk two strikers felt like overkill today. Not really annoyed at the draw, we know what type of team we are a good team but not quite title challengers, so not being able to kill off games like this is no surprise. Three defensive subs was weird. The second half showed why two games in 48 hours is stupid.

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
I feel LVG subbed on Smalling and Shaw because he has no confidence in Evans and Mcnair, both looked dodgy as soon Spurs started to press us in the 2nd half. Also because we have no mf options to make a difference.
2nd half, we looked absolutely knackered. Barely able to run to their half. We put so much in the first half that not finishing those clear cut chances was criminal, and cost us in the end.
If this match didn't happen 48 hrs later, we would have buried them imo.
All about getting fully rested and prepared for Stoke away now.

Yeah, you're probably right. Happy Shaw and Rafael are back. Hopefully 4 at the back now. Juan Mata played well today, it took him a year but he's finally playing to the standard. Gonna make me eat some humble pie if he keeps this up.

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
same reaction as you guys. I will take a point here. Happy with the performance. It was one of those days where we had no luck in front of the goal. We used up all our energy by the 1st half it seemed. thank heavens we didnt concede in that 2nd half.
36 points from 19 after just 5 from the first 5.
31 points from 14 with that many injuries.
Nevermind the title challenge. We are the 3rd best team at the moment in the league. That itself is a huge recovery after what has happened last season.
And lets take it on from here as far as the 2nd half of the season is concerned.

Re: Manchester United 2014/2015 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
Positivities- 9 game unbeaten run, 7 wins out 9, our attacking play from the midfield to the movement up front is showing fluidity and we're carving open chances, Mata was sensational in the first half today and played the way we want him to away from home, Young looking brilliant with each game that passes, defence kept a clean sheet...and lastly..
We're sitting in 3rd place, half the season gone, despite not being to able field our strongest 11 through out the course of it. Decimated by many injuries to key players, especially in defence.
Frustrating as it is that we didn't take our chances in the first half and put the game to bed, the way the team is gelling despite the setbacks is a positive sign.
Top 4 is the target and we're on course to achieve that objective
