Re: The Official Rival Thread - Part II
Why are we posting about city and spurs in here? Posting about Watford and Sunderland would be more fitting

So Klopp signed for Liverpool.
Will be interesting to see how he does there.

Probably the only immediately available manager I'd have gotten rid of José right this second for. Don't think he'd ever have come to us though.

Re: The Official Rival Thread - Part II
This month is going to be interesting, with Real and Atleti being hit with transfer bans. Even if the appeal, they won't get to purchase players come the summer, so they have til Feb 1 to buy all they need until summer 2017.
It will also rule out any moves beyond this Jan for players like Koke, or Greizman.

Arsenal lost to Everton today.
It means we stay top regardless of our result. They also play City next, so more points will be dropped by one of them on the weekend.

Everything lining up very well, at least in the short-term. Win tomorrow (expecting nothing less than a very difficult game, mind) and we're 6 ahead of Arse and *at least* 6 ahead of Pool and 7 ahead of City (who both have very tricky games tomorrow themselves) heading into the intensive Christmas schedule. Would be an invaluable advantage.

It would.
But the first thing we have to do is win tomorrow.

Precisely. As I said, expecting a very tough game. We've never been brilliant away at Sunderland as it is, and I'm anticipating no less again tomorrow.

Re: The Official Rival Thread - Part II
I didn't expect them to lose at Everton at all considering their recent form. Good news I guess.
The reason we see our title contenders drop points left and right is testimony to how tough the league is, and that should put additional emphasis on how well we're doing. I hope that every time a rival loses points it spurs our team to stay on their toes and perform at the best of their capabilities.
Sunderland for one are on the uprising lately and they are very good at neutralizing opposing threats and win conditions. It will be a hostile game for sure.

It is imperative we get 3 points and capitalise on our rival's slip ups.

Sunderland 2-2 Liverpool
Bit of breathing space for us in Wednesday's game at a minimum, and at best a chance to extend our lead over them to 8.

Re: The Official Rival Thread - Part II
It's brutal to play 48h after your last game. City struggled a lot and barely won vs Burnley at home too.
Hope we can gain advantage from it. Getting a +8 lead while beating Spurs at WHL would be glorious

Liverpool play Utd next, so hopefully there will be more points dropped there.

Re: The Official Rival Thread - Part II
United are in a form very similar to ours, I'd say they're favourites to win. Can't see Pool not dropping any points at Old Trafford.

It'll be a great match, regardless of the outcome, and will knock one of our more inform rivals.

Re: The Official Rival Thread - Part II
Pool is actually closer to United (5 pts with same games played) than us. Their title aspiring season could very well end outside of the CL.

Re: The Official Rival Thread - Part II
Hypothetically speaking, if we beat Spurs tomorrow and Leicester in two weeks (two very difficult games granted), and Pool lose to United at Old Trafford the day after — overall a very possible scenario given the history, form, etc. of all sides involved — that would put us 11 ahead of the Scousers. Their supposed title challenge could go from promising to effectively over in the space of two matchweeks. That said, they could also on the flipside (with a win over United and 2 losses for us at Spurs and Leicester) pull to just 2 behind. Barclays ffs

Re: The Official Rival Thread - Part II
Perfect results for us today. Everton crushed City and every title aspirations they still had, and with United's draw vs Pool we are back in a position that requires us to drop points in 3 separate games and it also puts a dent into United's potential title challenge.
