Re: Mobile phones Thread
Android phones are a no-go for me though. Won't switch back to them from an iphone. And mind you, I think the 6S is already a little too big. I liked the 5S better.
I hope Apple will finally make iPhone SE 2. But that sadly might never happen.

Re: Mobile phones Thread
they're convinced that the Chinese government spies on Huawei products and can use that, especially if you criticize the regimeEl Gunner wrote:BarrileteCosmico wrote:All of my chinese friends tell me not to buy Huawei. Take that as you will.
Then again I suppose it's different for them since they might actually go to China every now and then, whereas for me it would be a once or twice a lifetime thing.
Soooo, what's the reasoning and justification in all of this?

Myesyats wrote:Moreso than the price I'm concerned about the sizing. These things are getting so huge I can't be bothered really. Not keen on walking around with a tablet.
Sticking by me guns and will not update my 6S unless it burns or explodes.
Fully agree to this. I've got a A3 which is among the small phones these days, and while I'm very content with it as it was cheap and has everything I need (except having a shitty camera), I wouldn't actually mind it being a couple of cm smaller.

I got the P20 Pro and it's legit AF, and the Mate is an upgrade on it
provided you can get a good deal, well worth it. @Kaladin has one

So the samsung's foldable phones are breaking for a lot of the reviewers. Samsung have pushed back the release date in response.

No one even buys that thing for 2000 dollars except rich YouTubers and review sites.
For 2000 dollars I get a great gaming notebook plus an S10+.

Theresa May has approved Huawei's bid to help build Britain's 5G network, despite warnings about the risk posed to national security.

Re: Mobile phones Thread
Trump has basically killed Huawei ffs, Google has ceased working with them, no access going forward to Google services; Android and updates, Youtube App, Google play store etc
hope this gets resolved but I doubt it
also no idea if this affects my laptop I recently bought, I'm aware of what it'll do to my phone though, hoping phone provider will void the contract or something and I can just get a Samsung S10.

Re: Mobile phones Thread
UK doesn't like Huawei either due to similar concerns. No one wants to work with their 5G developments.
Laptops are fine. It's just the phones.

Re: Mobile phones Thread
not sure m8
waiting on press releases from both google and huawei since we don't know 100% what's happening yet and Google haven't determined exactly what will be affected
apparently current huawei phones may be good, you won't lose your app access, from what I've read, but you won't get any Android updates? IDK
future Huawei phones won't have any access to Google Play Store, Youtube App, Google Maps etc..unless you use a workaround, lot of misinformation/speculative info out there without official word yet
