Watched Belgium/Wales. Fantastic Wales performance to get a 0-0, but Ramsey was really poor. Wasted possession every time he got on the ball; was caught on it a lot, couldn't play a through pass, couldn't play a cross-field pass, or even a simple sideways pass. Worrying signs.

Sounds like he typically tried to do too much - a victim of his own hype?

Even AW has pointed out at least twice in the last few weeks that he isn't focussing on the basics any more, which is what catapulted him in the first place.

I don't think Ramsey has had a good game this season, even in these games at the beginning when he scored late after terrible performances.

Anyway some Wenger quotes from tonight coming up:

Wenger: "The best formation is the one that corresponds with the quality of the players available."
Wenger: "Defending is the job of an old man. You have to be 26 or 27 to be a complete defender."
Wenger on Lionel Messi being put out on the right: "Nowadays, there is physical work needed down the wings. Messi doesn't do that."
Wenger: "When the manager puts the best player in a position that doesn't suit him, in the long term you don't get the best out of the team."

Spot the irony...

He didn't try anything too extravagant - no flicks or backheels or overly ambitious passes or anything like that. It was the simple stuff he couldn't pull off.

Wenger: "The best formation is the one that corresponds with the quality of the players available."
Wenger: "Defending is the job of an old man. You have to be 26 or 27 to be a complete defender."

Wenger: "When the manager puts the best player in a position that doesn't suit him, in the long term you don't get the best out of the team."

This'll go down well. Laughing

Another golden quote:

"We are paying the price for Debuchy (injury), because Chambers is a central defender."

Not like we have another right back in the squad or on the bench or anything...

Not being prepared for Debuchy injury or Koscielny injury is mismanagement. Should have kept Jenkinson - needless loan. He had more than enough game time as a back up last season.

Sell him. Laughing

Apart from Alexis no other players have hit consistent top form yet. We dont have better option and I would start him. Ramsey must go back to basics, we dont need his goals we need him to defend and make sure we dont concede stupid goals.

We are going throw a difficult time and the players are not helping themselves, Ramseys job is now to play a simple football or go to the bench.

Its funny how Wenger knows so much about other players but knows nothing about his own players. Laughing rofl

Wenger, speaking to BeIn Sport, said: 'When Messi sees that Ronaldo has scored so many more goals than him, it will play on his morale.

'On the wings, he cannot maintain his goal average. In the long term, he won't be happy.

'The best player in the team has a power within the club. He can make the coach better if there is chemistry between them.

'So, if his position doesn't suit him, it weakens the team as whole.'

lol while we're at the topic of Sanogo, a friend of mine once hit me with this one when we were engaging in some banter last season:
"You talk about Welbeck? (He's a united fan) Where did Wenger get that Sanogo guy. He probably drove around in Africa somewhere and saw him score a bicycle kick on Africa's sandy sands and then signed him." Very Happy

Would be nice if Sanogo could actually pull of something like that Laughing

Not sure if Sanogo has ever even been to Africa lolz.

Your friend has poor banter but I would have gone with Pep Guardiola.

Decent night for the English lads, Gibbo came on in the second half and Jack had a good game in that deep midfield role again. stunning pass for Ox's goal, unfortunately Wellbeck went off with what looked like cramp. I hope he is ok for Saturday
