If they couldn't physically do it they wouldn't put it down as a poll option on things you want to see added to PSN.

That video was released in 2012 (origin story ?). I always thought it was brilliant and wished they did more, and it looks like it's happening. The plot would revolve around a self-aware AI, and the rest is anyone's guess.
