Why the hell would anyone in their right mind pay £37m for William Carvalho?

Poyet on Borini

"He is being assessed now for his shoulder injury. That's stopped everything a little bit," Poyet is quoted in the Sunderland Echo.

"We will see. I have not held talks with him, but the club has, although that's private.

"We know where we stand."

Can't wait till Costa rapes & pillages the League. The amount of nonsense I've seen being spouted about him since the World Cup is unbelievable.

sportsczy wrote:Why do you guys have to talk in absolutes ffs. When you flop in a WC, just like when you flop in CL or Euro, you then create doubts and have to prove yourself... there's nothing stupid about it.

You don't have the advantage of having all WC players around you at NTs like you do at clubs like Madrid, Barca, Bayern, etc. To me, the pure quality of a player is proven more when he has to deal with imperfections on his team... needs to adapt and compensate + he hasn't practiced with the team all year. It's much easier to perform in ideal conditions.

That's why WC has always been the differntiator for players historically... you separate the men from the boys.

Players will hit good form and bad form. They can hit bad form at the wrong time, mind you at the end of a long season headed to the WC and all of a sudden they dont have a good showing. Also to add the short amount of time to build team chemistry, and also needed that all the players/tactics are in perfect hormany for everything to go well. So basing a players value on 3-4 games is pretty ridiculous (lets say the other teams parked the bus, striker struggles to score...doesnt mean he sucks). Not to mention he is the reason both goals were scored vs the USA, so he was able to contribute greatly. I like how you ignored my Neymar comparising, scored almost as many goals at the World Cup as he did all last season (9) for barca. That doesnt reflect accuratley what he can do just cause he had monster 4 games. But whatever; agree to disagree but I think judging a player on a season is more importan than a World Cup

He will, no one has denied that. Gil for some reason is getting very sensitive over absolutely nothing.

I agree. Why is Torres not being forced out? He should be playing for like Getafe at this point lol

Cut his contract, make him either take a pay cut or just not play anywhere

No he won't.
He'll flop, I'm saying that right here and now, without any evidence or knowledge.
Just so that there's someone who has denied it.

The only person in the General that gives Costa his due is probably Nick. Everyone else criminally underrates him and constantly try to diminish his accomplishments last season.

Costa will do well. As well as the likes of Benteke, Michu, Bony, Lukaku have done. But he won't do anything more.

I don't diminish his accomplishments at all, said before he had a fantastic season.

All I said was I don't see how he's changed from the season before other than a fantastic coach making him the key part of how his attack operates.

Learn to read, anyway who gives a shit? if people don't respect him so what? That's on them and you crying about someone you don't know and never will, because someone on the Internet doesn't rate him like you do is tedious at best.

Who has said that Costa won't do well in the EPL? It's actually a league well suited to him and he ended up on one of the teams that is best for his style. If he doesn't succeed it would be embarrassing.

torres knows he will never make the wages he is currently on at chelsea in his career again. He will ride out his contract and go find a nice club to retire to. Chelsea also gives him exposure so it's nice.

Think I'll go with Hans on this one as well and retract any statement I made of Costa doing well in the EPL. He'll flop and flop hard. Pls, that La Liga scrub wouldn't be playing the likes of Hey-tafe or Mehdrid. Clubs like Burnely, Hull City, the legendary Stoke City would prove how crappy he really is.

lol Doc.

I'm not claiming he is not a great striker. Also the season he had, the numbers don't lie, there's nothing to interpret.
Scored a lot, and consistently.

I'm just saying he'll flop at Chelsea, for no other reason than that Chelsea is a striker's graveyard.
Him being a player who's dirty as *bleep* does help of course with playing for Mourinho, but it won't be enough. :coffee:

Yeah yeah yeah, we both know he is quite a good forward who is actually more consistent (the good consistency and not consistently doing nonsense) than people really give him credit for.

But he'll flop regardless. Dirty La Liga scrub would get found out easily.
