Re: Liverpool 14/15 season
I don't get Art's state of thinking.
Back in end of January, he was saying let's see how Rodgers does at this death run month of February, and it went very well.
All managers have their bleak months. It's like Man U fans not warming to Fergie when he got them to FA Cup final in 1991, because he had them finish 11th the season before.
Or BVB fans ignoring their little turn-around now and saying Klopp has a lot to prove because they were A LOT worse than us.
and Let's say we miss on T4 by a point or lose the FA CUP FINAL (will be VERY disappoiting)...but you'd want Rodgers sacked and exactly replaced by whom ?
It's a Rodgers squad. Grass isn't always greener, we're winning big games, our mentality is strong, and we have learned to go on winning runs in the league. it's a very important habit long-term.
Even under Rafa (our best manager since PL era) only twice did we go on sun amazing point/win runs as we have in Rodgers last 2 seasons.
One was in 08-09 (10 wins in 11)
and one was in 05-06 (10 wins in a row)
Rodgers has already had two amazing runs in 2 years. It's an important habit if we have any long-term intention of winning the league.
We have a young, yet experienced and ever-improving squad and our finances off-the pitch are improving year after year. on verge of stadium expansion that will ensure long-term prospects of the club and a 42 year old manageR (a baby in managerial term) who's learning and will improve just like the players and has showed he can turn the turmoil around. It's a good thing we got going and we could be challenging for the title for years if we don't mess around.
anyways, im positive we'll finsih T4 and win the cup and then it'd be classified as a very good season considering the circumstances.
It's about a manager showing his potential and ability and you backing them. just like it was with Lucas and Henderson when they first arrived. they weren't perfect, but you could see someting and now see how differently they are perceived compared to first arrived.

Re: Liverpool 14/15 season
Let's just put it this way that if this unbeaten run of ours that has seen us gain the most points in the Prem in the last 11 games was at the start of the season and we were top of the table and then had the run we had before this and dropped down to 5th place, you guys wouldn't be so happy about things.
It's been a rollercoaster ride and we'll only see in May how we did overall - and it's overall that matters.

Re: Liverpool 14/15 season
As much I am upbeat by the current form, optimism and possibility that we are going to push really close for top 4, I have to say, I am with Art on this. You definitely can not say, he has already delivered, imo, not yet. I dont mean that he should be sacked at the end of the season if we finish 5th and fail to win FA Cup.
But if you look it at the end after May, suppose we do not have CL football, there will all those traditional excuses about not able to attract bigger talents and all that. If you want to attract players like Pjanic or Lacase&&te, you need CL football. We should wait little longer before we start giving Rodgers 10/10 for this season. So I wont go overdrive and say he has delivered.

Re: Liverpool 14/15 season
@ Art: It's a lot easier to turn something good into shite, than to turn around a shite mood and momentum into something good. But yea, we'll know in May.
@ Heil: No matter what, he won't get 10/10 this season. European campaign was embarrassingly bad, but it's something he'll learn as he's young...T4 finish and FA Cup will give it a solid 8/10 campaign considering the circumstances.
btw, we're now 8 points behind our point tally last season at the same stage

Re: Liverpool 14/15 season
he definitely has some talent and knowledge, there is no doubt about it. You cant just give credit to SAS for he last season that is the most stupid thing I had ever heard. But it will matter if he can translate his talent and ideas into consistent performance and results.

Re: Liverpool 14/15 season
I don't even want to dwell on the first-half of the season as that's pretty useless. Rodgers has engineered a fantastic resurgence and deserves the credit. Now he needs to finish it off. It's not about finishing T4 and/or winning FA Cup; it's about not making mistakes that ruined the first-half.
I'm confident that he has got it right (at the expense of half-the season) and now expecting consistency for reminder of the season.

Re: Liverpool 14/15 season
I know, that too they scored 3 away . Things like these come up and then I realise, it doesnt matter what but we must qualify for the top 4 and in process beat ManUtd this Sunday. At least we are still in FA Cup and face Villa in semis, some hope there

Re: Liverpool 14/15 season
Obviously it no longer matters who Besiktas plays, We are out and we need to deal with Europe better next season. Hopefully Rodgers will sort it out as he has been able to do every season. Players will only get more experience from these losses, Not repeat the same mistakes etc.
Top 4 and Fa cup final should be realistic now.

Re: Liverpool 14/15 season
Such an awful season. We need a lift, something to give reason for excitement and hope about next season. A managerial change is exactly that. Come on FSG, make it happen (and choose someone good pls, not another flavor of the month).

You know what would be more exciting than a managerial change? An actual star signing. I would prefer that.
It won't bother me if Rodgers goes, but it won't matter if we don't bring in some big talent to work with what we already have.
