Hummels would have tackled him if he took a touch.

Messi in 2014;
Invisible against Atleti in the CL (both legs) -> Saving my self for the World Cup.
Invisible against Madrid in Copa final. -> Saving himself for the World Cup.
Invisible against Atleti in the Liga deciding game (at home) -> Saving himself for the World Cup.
Invisible in the knockout stage of the world cup (playing powerhouses like the Swiss and Belgium lol) -> Saving himself for the World Cup final.
Invisible in the World Cup final. -> Saving himself for the World Cup qualifiers 2018.

Argentina let down by their strikers, was meant to be the strongest part of the team

Messi, Higs, and that guy with weird haircut missed great chances. Higuain isn't the reason Argentina lost.

Pipita shaming his family name. So did Palacio and Aguero. SMH scrubbing it big time these Argie STs.

Good thing for Pipita that the big game GOAT Leo Messi AKA La Pulga AKA Maradona reloaded was there to save Argentina.

Anyone who singled out Higgy is a POS.
Messi missed chance too, and Palacio/Kun were soooo much worse. At least Higuain put some effort in to run, same can't be said about Kun.

Can't really blame Messi for failing to show up tonight. The team set up was so negative, Messi had to drop back deep just to get on the ball.

Re: World Cup Final 2014: Post Match Discussion
are you guys seriously using Messi's chance, which was twice as tough to score, as an excuse for Higuain?
Argentina's attack flopped in this world cup and their defense carried them to final.

Re: World Cup Final 2014: Post Match Discussion
Renaming the thread as the above posts rightly make clear that it is unfair to single out just a single player in this final and the discussion can clearly not be sustained simply with reference to Higuain.
In summary: RG pls go.

Re: World Cup Final 2014: Post Match Discussion
Their entire strikeforce flopped bar Messi who was a bit of a let down in the K.O games by his own standards.
Pretty funny how everybody had them pegged as a ridiculous attacking powerhouse with no midfield and shit defence, and it was the exact opposite.

Agreed that the two chances are incomparable, Palacio was the only other opportunity that came close though even then, Higuain had a unique chance. Disappointing finish but more frustrating were the chances to make up for this miss that Higuain ruined with poorly timed runs. That finish will haunt him for a long time though, I feel sorry for the man.

Higuain chance was a clear one on one. Any competent striker could've scored that.
But no, it wasn't Higuain's fault they lost. Blame Sabella.

Re: World Cup Final 2014: Post Match Discussion
All of their strikers played poorly this World Cup..
Ramero's attempt on Goetze's goal was disgraceful though.. He's supposed to 'make himself big' and attack the ball, not lean to one side.. Not to mention he was slow in getting off of his line
