Re: Toni Kroos Control discussion
It says he could be out for up to 2 weeks according to Marca.
It's okay. He hadn't been playing that well prior to the injury. Maybe this time off will do him well.

Re: Toni Kroos Control discussion
even if i think it would have been better to allow him to walk on, i still understand why they want people like him around. This has happened in football forever
the silver lining here is Zidane likes Kroos, values his leadership, and thus want him to continue playing for Madrid. You have got to be happy to see Zidane wieling his power to buid the team he wants.

His leadership is inexistent, whereas his skill, while once world class, today is just a shadow of that. Guy can barely move, we aren't going anywhere with a midfielder his ilk in the first XI

well that's your point of view, Zidane thinks otherwise. Teams have won with players like kroos since the beginning of times

This pretty much says that Modric is gone...

Modric is the one that's useless. Kroos has been much better for the past few games.

Probably but I'd rather keep modric for one more season before retiring to China than keep this poor mans Xabi Alonso until 34

Been saying he is not going anywhere.
The guy is class.
Why would you get rid of his quality, there isn't any better midfield out there.

Kroos looking bad is the garbage of whats around him. He is not someone with supreme athleticism but he has world class technique and passing. Within a good team, he can do his bit defensively, its when the other CM's and fullbacks play like garbage.. then he can't play his game. He is worth playing to his strengths

Xabi Alonso used to do what he does without cover and next to Scrubdira and Mehzil, while also doing Casemiro's current job. Now that's a midfield GOAT
This guy has no excuse, we make compromises for difference makers not for passengers

Re: Toni Kroos Control discussion
Should have axed both him and Modric tbh, but of the two Kroos has the biggest upside left inside him if he can be motivated again.
Curious how this might affect transfers because we have been linked with Ndom, Pogba, and Eriksen. Now it's likely only going to be one of them. So would it be better to pair Kroos with a B2B, or a creative attacking CM?
Really not sure tbh. I would have rather had Ndom with one of Pogba or Eriksen.

Re: Toni Kroos Control discussion
As I said before in a post I only see one of Modric or Kroos being sold. Selling both would mean a complete reconstruction of the midfield that we've had for the past 5 years.
I fully expect Modric to be sold now with a solid physical midfielder being his replacement

Re: Toni Kroos Control discussion
I can see them signing Ndombele to play along side of Kroos and then signing either Pogba or Eriksen to play slightly ahead. That leaves bench of Casemiro, Valverde, Isco.
If Zidane remains with Casemiro, Kroos and signs either Pogba or Eriksen, then we are no better off, IMO.

Re: Toni Kroos Control discussion
Toni Kroos getting renewed is a good thing. He just needs to get his shit together come next season. Kroos retains my full confidence.
having said that, midfield needs to be refreshed with new blood. New blood like lets say... ndombele for example. neither pogba or eriksen interest me.

Re: Toni Kroos Control discussion
kroos had a garbage season, but its difficult to let him and modric go at the same time whilst also looking for replacements especially when we have other parts of the squad still doodoo. i made a post before on one of the other threads, that i'd keep kroos. he's a better passer than modric, better at free kicks (btw how many freekicks did we score this season, i feel like i only remember 2, the isco one against roma and ceballos against betis)
anyway, the things modric can do better than kroos, the age he is at in his career and millage may not permit that anymore. does someone have or know where i can find our free kicks stats this season? now i'm really curious

Re: Toni Kroos Control discussion
Comparison with modric is disrespectful to say at least. He's 2 tiers below that level at his peak and now he's way past it, slower than ever and as invested as Bale . Get rid ffs

Re: Toni Kroos Control discussion
the comparison isn't at their peak. luka isn't at his peak, neither is kroos. the comparison is at their decline. modric's style involves more risk with the ball compared to kroos. he also tends to do the midfield dribbles more, compared to kroos, he tends to defend more also compared to kroos. for those kinds of skillsets, age and physicality aren't on his side. better player in their primes is modric obviously. but they're not in their primes. kroos is still a threat from set pieces, compared to modric, who isn't. unless we want ramos to have the permanent role of our david beckham, taking all our free kicks
kroos for all intent and purposes, kroos may not even be a starter, but he'll be 30 next year and modric 34, if you're to keep one, that alone may be argument enough. mind you i wouldn't mind getting rid of both, i'm certainly open to that, but buying two replacement mids in one go is a tall order, when we are not even sure if zidane knows what he wants his ideal side to be. let one go, keep one, and watch what happens to that one in the next year. but you don't keep the guy who's 4 years older and in his mid 30s

Re: Toni Kroos Control discussion
Kroos is unbelievably convinced of himself. He's basically immune to criticism, and he's surely not going to be told that he's not goot enough for Real Madrid.
I told you he'd stay, and I told you he's a passenger playing like an early pensioner

Re: Toni Kroos Control discussion
kroos could definitely do more work but his passing is impeccable when in form.
He just needs someone better than casemiro to help him out
