Destro had 13 goals in just 14 starts and 6 substitute appearances in the league last year. One of Roma's greatest issues was a lack of depth in attack due to Destro missing the first half of the year due to injury leaving them short up front once Totti missed a few games in a row. Mattia was fantastic in the second half of the season though and if he continues such form it would not surprise me if he ended as the league's top scorer with the service he might expect.

It's still premature to be evaluating who has the best forward line though. It's still unlikely in my view that Shaqiri will arrive. If he did I could see it tipping the balance but it's unlikely that Juventus will themselves sit idly by without signing a threat of their own.

If he Isco looked impressive last season, he wouldn't have had to worry about his position. Every player knows you have to deliver in Madrid from the first moment, or else you're out. We have booted legend before (for good or bad) when they have started performing subpar. Isco still has a chance though. He played in 53 games last year, which was the most of his career. And will probably get somewhere the same this season as a rotational player. But if he doesn't perform at the level he did at the start of last season, then he could be out next year.

I just gather the right way would be to buy a prospect to start behind Isco, and Isco gets the confidence that he will be the starter. Instead of going out and buying a guy, that essentially was "him", as in the next big thing, the very next season. Allot of guys you got struggled the first season then panned out (remember how crap Modric was at first?). Patience and confidence is what makes a player get better, not pilling on other super stars in his own position. Would be like having Hakeem Olajuwon, then deciding to go out and get Shaq and David Robinson all to rotate with him. How is that gonna make Hakeem feel valued? Also his playing time will be cut down lol.

Anyways, I'm a huge Isco fan and I hope to see him succeed even if it's with you guys. He's an amazing talent.
