Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
Red Alert is not wrong with what he says there.
I definitely agree that the next signing cannot be just another teenage wonderkid who is gonna take 7 years to get to where we want. We all know Suarez's X factor is gone and even with him at times we struggled to break down parked buses last season. I fully expect more teams to park on us. Sterling's and Lazar's pace will be useless if we're just knocking the ball around their 18 yard box trying to squeeze a throughball or a shot.
We need another X-factor which is why most of us want a WC signing. Reus . But that's far fetched. Even if not WC the next attacking signing has to be a creative outlet. Someone who can create chances against all the odds with 11 men in front of them squeezing every inch of space out. Coutinho has this. Lallana might have it. Sterling, Lazar, Ibe might get it in the future more consistently. But we need it now. Creating chances doesn't just mean providing assists and putting throughballs in. Smart off the ball movement, intelligent one touch passing, deadly passing instincts, understanding your teammates strengths etc. Another all around attacker basically. Not someone like Remy or Bony who will just play back up to Studger and need to be fed instead of having the ability to create.
But having said that, a better back up to Sturridge than Fabio won't be too bad. But only after the x-factor is taken care of.

I'd still sell all these fellas for the right price
Reina
Assaidi
Johnson
Skrtel
Lucas
Coady
Adorjan
And obviously buy capable quality replacements for Skrtel, Johnson and possibly Lucas.
Loan:
Coates
Kelly (with option to call back)
Wisdom
Robinson

Remy, Lovren, Davies & Origi. . The next most likely incomings according to Barrett, Pearce, Dom King & David Maddock.
Barrett also suggests we will buy 5 players . . So the question remains on the 5th who might that be!!
Maddock goes a step ahead like a drunken man and suggest Vidal, Pogba & Reus all in the radar!!
Exciting times ahead!!

Well, if our 5th signing is going to be a cash dump from our sales/kitty those three are all nice to be following.

As long as we sign any striker except Remy that we've been linked to I'll be ok. I just think that Remy is an awful signing.

Signing Remy for the same price of selling Borini is an ABSOLUTE no-brainer.

Scores as many goals as Bony, is 10 times more flexible, and is more of a Sturridge-lite and will cost less than half as much as Bony.

I'll say this here, I don't mind Lovren if he replaces Skrtel and Skrtel is sold.
But not for Agger. Not in a million years.

I do agree with this. If the price is actually 8m then definitely buy and sell Borini as he's better than Fabio.
But he's only back up to Studger and we're still waiting for our Suarez marquee replacement.

And you'll keep waiting. There is currently NO (reliable/noteworthy) indication that we're pursuing some mega-expensive statement signing.

Glass half empty kind of guy, eh RedO?
Rodgers just came out and indirectly said we haven't spent any of the Suarez money yet. If the right player does catch the eye it may just happen.

I think RedO likes dealing with Facts hence why he seems like a glass half empty kind of guy when talking about transfers, but he is right because there is no indication that were going to buy a marquee even if we spend that Suarez money. We won't break our wage structure and spend most of it on 1 player, that's why i doubt we'll get one.
If they don't have a shortlist of marquee targets now, i can't see them getting one, it's not like one can generally pop out of nowhere. Since no reliable source has said we have any i doubt we do, it's not like we would want to leave a signing like that late in the window.

And on 2, maybe 3 times higher on wages... lol
Remy is only selling for "cheap" because he's on 80k a week.
We're struggling to sign a marquee signing, probably scared of "breaking our wage structure" and that's even AFTER Suarez' 200k was wiped off, there's no way we'll pay that amount for a back-up player.
Remy leading the line with Sturridge, Sterling, and Markovic/Lallana behind him. That title challenge ambition.

He's also came out and said Suarez is irreplaceable and thus we'll improve "the squad" as we won't get a like to like replacement. Lallana is/was our marquee signing. I highly doubt we'll spend over 25m for another player. Although we might go in for Lovren again so who knows.

Remy is on 75K/week.
You really think Boni is on 40K ? Swansea's most expensive signing ever. No way.
If it's a choice between Remy/Bony for back up striker, it really is a no brainer. Our undisputed number 1 striker is Sturridge, and he will deservedly be #1 going into the season. Remy is a lot more like Sturridge than Bony, so in case of injury to Danny, it'll be a smoother transition if he steps up in Danny's place.

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
Bony was on 10k a week in the Eredivisie ffs. I'd be surprised if he gets anything over 40k. He loves football just as much as Suarez, he's not in the game for money. He's also pretty much used Swansea as a stepping stone to move to a CL team.
Bony at Liverpool helps a lot more than Remy. Loic is a spoiled little brat when he's not playing. He won't come here as a back-up. He'll want to play. Sturridge's injuries are inevtiable, Bony here will probably help us more as he can actually hold onto the ball and get the ball to the likes of Lallana, Sterling and Markovic making runs as well as score. Remy will demand the ball to be through balled, apart from Coutinho, who has the eyes to do that? Especially when we have Markovic, Sterling and even Lallana (who really wants the ball delivered at his feet so he's a lot like Siem De Jong in that case) making those same similar runs.
I'll take the bet, as long as you agree that Chelsea finishes above Liverpool.

He's managed almost 700 games and has a WIN record of almost 70%.
His records are:
Obviously "Hitlerinho" is tactical inadequate because you don't like his style of play. Although it's quite funny as at the start of the season you were all for these type of wins when we were playing the same way and clutching at 1-0 wins claiming a "win is a win".
But yeah, I'm all for him deceiving me "AGAIN", for whatever that means. Back to our targets of Remy and that Davies dude then?
His records are:
In ten seasons of club management, Mourinho has led his club to win its domestic league seven times, the UEFA Champions League twice and the UEFA Cup once. Between 2003 and 2012, Mourinho did not go a single calendar year without winning at least one trophy.
Porto (2002–2004)
Primeira Liga (2): 2002–03, 2003–04
Taça de Portugal (1): 2002–03
Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira (1): 2003
UEFA Champions League (1): 2003–04
UEFA Cup (1): 2002–03
Chelsea (2004–2007, 2013-)
Premier League (2): 2004–05, 2005–06
FA Cup (1): 2006–07
Football League Cup (2): 2004–05, 2006–07
FA Community Shield (1): 2005
Internazionale (2008–2010)
Serie A (2): 2008–09, 2009–10
Coppa Italia (1): 2009–10
Supercoppa Italiana (1): 2008
UEFA Champions League (1): 2009–10
Real Madrid (2010–2013)
La Liga (1): 2011–12
Copa del Rey (1): 2010–11
Supercopa de España (1): 2012

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
While I would prefer a bit more fire-power, neither of Remy or Bony (GBP 20 million! Really!!) appeals me. However, my greatest frustration is regarding the progress (or the lack of it, actually) in strengthening the LB & CB positions. I will be really pissed if we end up with Lovern & Davis.
