Ronaldo at points in his career was certainly unplayable, or nearly. People have short memories. He was quite good against Roma today for example, and his goal was very nice.

Well yeah i don't think it's a coincidence that more goals are being scored across the board. Also prime Messi is obviously a factor, Eto'o's best goalscoring return happened in Messi's blowout season.

I haven't checked the numbers really, but it does seem like much more goals are being scored than the 90s and early 2000s.

I'm pretty sure more goals are being scored now. I remember that in the 90's early 2000 many pichichi's ended with around 20 goals, even not reaching that mark. We now end up the season with many players above 20, and often several that are not Barça-Madrid.

I think that Suarez is better than Eto'o and they are not that similar, but I like to liken them because of their tremendous fighting spirit that makes them both better than they are.

We're speaking about the rijkaard era though, so not quite that far back.

Anyways, total goals scored in the following 2 seasons of La Liga excluding Real Madrid and Barca:

2014-15: 781

2004-05: 836

So the numbers don't seem to support the notion that scoring now is easier for everyone, at least in La Liga.
