I don't believe how Italy were outplayed today. Just wow to Costa Rica though. Hosnestly thought they'd end up with 0 points. 2 matches in and already in 2nd round. Just wow.

Well, at least in women football, Canada is right in the action. Mind you, next year, the Women football World Cup is held in Canada and even though two days ago, Germany defeated Canada 2:1 in a friendly match, you have some great players and should do quite well in the World Cup.Arsenalfaithfull wrote:Wish Canada could join in on the action. Re: damn concacaf, stunt on these h8rz
People surprised about Costa Rica when I was talking up the big 3 through WC qualifying
Honduras was always the x-factor in that they typically play well but honestly they play more rugby than football.

3/4 CONCACAF teams made it past the group stages.
4/5 CONMEBOL teams made it past the group stages.

So far France has been the only team to impress me front to back, but obviously a lot of teams will improve as the tournament progresses, but they are my early favorites.

Re: damn concacaf, stunt on these h8rz
South America are still pretty fancied. So I would above all give huge credit to North America for such an impressive showing at this tournament and that too contrary to people's expectations. Consider this. Mexico and USA were both called complete crap before the tournament began and most of us did not even bother to find out what was going on with Costa Rica.

To be fair, most unbiased viewers of world football would have acknowledged that America and Mexico were both up and comers in the world stage. Americans have always assembled athletic superhumans. Klinsman has simply added tactical nous and overall dynamics to the team which was not present during the Bradly years.
Ps: Europeans will always undervalue and talk shit about everything that comes out of North America anyways.

Re: damn concacaf, stunt on these h8rz
Relivant to this thread I suppose. Everyone's favorite *bleep*-servative Ann Coulter had shit to say
http://www.clarionledger.com/story/opinion/columnists/2014/06/25/coulter-growing-interest-soccer-sign-nations-moral-decay/11372137/
If more "Americans" are watching soccer today, it's only because of the demographic switch effected by Teddy Kennedy's 1965 immigration law. I promise you: No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer. One can only hope that, in addition to learning English, these new Americans will drop their soccer fetish with time.

They were up and comers but this time they were specially rated low even at this forum. Other than that I agree with what you said.
