They were about to sign at least one defender AND 40m Cuadrado.

I would have rather signed Mathieu and Marquinhos than either of them with Vermaelen.

But important to come out from this is if they were willing to pay that much ("worth more than 40m") for Marquinhos, why the hell dont we possess Benatia?

We are supposed to believe Roma were holding out for 50m?

Something seems fishy about the Benatia saga. I think Roma really were asking for a ton and wanted a bidding war and the we, chelsea and city all balked at the price. Meanwhile they got his replacement and spent cash thinking someone would cave and pay up and no one did. Then finally at the end, Bayern called and it seems they just went and ahead got the deal done to make sure they got something for him that was reasonable

I don't believe we just walked away so easily when we allegedly offered so much for Marquinhos. It don't add up

I think we didnt actually want Benatia as much as we think we should have.

I think we wasnt sure how much he would fit generally (mobility, passing the ball) and wasnt sure how well he would fit next to Pique.

Signing two mobile, left footed, ball playing CB's kinda leads to me think that.

I read Adama and Samper are guaranteed to be promoted next year. Halivovic will also be promoted as per his agreement in his contract (1 year in B team then move to first team).

So no way he gets Samper from us. Munir we should hurry and consider moving to the first team to prevent him from leaving

btw, why do we add release clauses to our players contracts? Wouldnt it be better if we just didnt add that in and it was our clubs right to just deny people's bid? We would of been able to keep Thiago (even if he is injured 10 months out of the season)

The interest is no secret but Dailyfail are way too late to report it. Wenger couldn't get anywhere near Samper when he snatched his best friends Toral and Bellendrin away. Ain't no chance now when Samper is close to the first team. Lad's born in Barcelona, first player to have gone through every single youth rank, debuting with 6. Rejected every single EPL offer since forever.

Release clauses are mandatory in Spain. Also linked to the wages. In practise ain't no one signing a contract with a € 100M+ release clause, which takes away power from the player to decide about his future, when he's on peanut wages.

Munir I dont even know we have to hurry about. He has made strides in the last 6-8 months which are pretty unprecedented. This time 8 months ago there was no assurances he would even be a starter for Barca B at all by this time...fast-forward and he already has scored a La Liga goal.

Didn't Munir reject Pep and Bayern? So don't think we have to worry too much.

Real Madrid made an attempt for Barcelona sensation Munir El Haddadi last season, it has been revealed.

Roberto has just renewed until 2019. lol Will never get rid. He's Catalan after all. Meanwhile Denis Suarez dictating play for Sevilla and filling the void left by Rakitic, 2 assists in 4 starts => loaned for 2 years.

He is not a crack but a good enough rotation player and very different to Denis Suarez to be compared to him. If we need to get rid of a midfielder, that's Xavi mostly.

No, he is not a good enough rotation player. Unless your understanding of a good enough rotation player is someone who can come on when the game is done and dusted and run the clock down. In that case every midfielder in Barca B is a good enough rotation player. From a good enough rotation player I would expect that he could start today against Malaga to give Rakitic some rest with the congested schedule this week and Rakitic's minor bruised foot injury. With Roberto this is not the case, although it's already his 2nd season in the first team squad, as it is already clear beforehand that he would add absolutely nothing except releasing the ball to the nearest teammate 1 second after he received it without any purpose as usual. Bartra is a good enough rotation player. Roberto isn't.

Worst of all is that he doesn't show any promise. He has a bit of physicality and can run with the ball past challenges and that's about his biggest strength.

Roberto hasnt improved since the day he came, he simply hasnt progressed. He hasnt played ALOT but he got a fair shake last season and again. Hasnt impressed.

Just like Montoya, just like Tello and just like others before these guys...good enough players in the grand scheme of things but not Barca quality.


So disrespectful to Xavi too for christ sake. He is barely playing, he isnt complaining and just playing his role when he gets the odd chances...and still you want rid of him while keeping a guy who has no promise and does nothing.

I agree about Sergi. Dude needs to go. Samper has looked more full of promise at his young age, in one game, than what Sergi has since he was promoted. He is a solid player but nothing else.

I agree about D. Suarez, he has looked solid as hell but we don't really need him. Next year both Samper and Halivic will be promoted and we have Rafinha. So really the odd man out imo is actually Sergi more than anybody.

Xavi at 70 and on crutches will still be 10 times the player Scruberto will ever be.

I am not saying anything bad about Xavi, but it makes no sense to have a 10 milion player a year in the bench, that's all. I'm glad he is accepting his new role, he should have done that last season already.

Sergi Roberto is crap no discussion, shouldn't ever be compared to a legend like Xavi.
