Marchisio didn't get unfairly sent out.  You lead with the studs high, you are eligible to get a red.  If it looks unintentional and you try to remove your foot at the last minute, it becomes a yellow.  But Marchisio knew exactly what he was doing as both the ball+ opponent were in front of him and he kicked out no less...  it's a red card.  It was clearly intentional.

Anyways.

Congratulations to Costa Rica and Uruguay for reaching the next round. Especially Costa Rica, who are the surprise of this tourney.

Italy not only needs to go back to the drawing board. They need to go back to the bloody stone slab days. Because the system in Italy as a whole is bogus now.

Marchisio stomped the player while he had his back to the player. He was in motion, and couldn't see if his leg was in his movement path.

In fact, the only reason it was, is because the player fell down in the first place. The stomp was during play, while Marchisio had no reason to stomp into the player to gain any advantage. He was chasing after the ball, and he stomped him while doing a roullete.

I don't think it was a stomp.

Marchisio came in very hard, right at the shins. It didn't really look like he was going for the ball.

I would of given it.
Reckless imo.

Prandelli has to go, can't even win a single friendly in 9 months. Used just about every formation in the book and never sticks to any one way of playing. Only team at the WC to be experimenting during the actual tournament.

Marchisio's tackle was reckless, nothing more. No violent conduct, no intentional use of excessive force, it's a very clear yellow.

Anytime you go in studs up like that and stomp on the player you're asking to be sent off. He was also right in front of the ref, couldn't have made it any more obvious

According to BeIN sport refereeing experts, it is not a red in any sphere. In fact, the stomp happened while Marchisio had his back to the other player. He was not leading with his studs high, as he was going for a roullete and was using his back to block the other player.

This is the first time I see a dribbling player get a red. BeIN in all languages are laughing at the decision.

Bein Sport in France think it's a red...  a tough red.  But definitely not a drama according to the crew there.  L'Equipe 21 thinks it's a clear red. I don't think you should generalize when you've only clearly seen your local Bein broadcast LS.

Marchisio is a player very correct , and infact it was absurd to think he had done something of disgraceful ... then I saw the replay, and well , I wouldn't have him sent off . for me it is never red card.
The refereeings in this WC are pro South Americans

I looked to me like he was just trying to change direction and go the other way and didn't realize the position of the other player's leg. I don't get how it is a red.

Like, how was Balotelli's jump and kneeing someone in the back of the head a yellow, and then that challenge a red. What kind of nonsense is that lol. Not saying Balotelli's challenge was a red.. but in the world where that is yellow, Marchisio's challenge is yellow as well, surely.

I am seeing BeIN Arabic, and English. It was the BeIN arabic host that said other BeIN refereeing experts agree with him.

Actually, the Balotelli foul deserved a red too. The problem Marchisio had was the the ref was standing a meter away looking straight at the play...

Prandelli improved Italy going on from the shambles of 2010, but left them right back where they were in 2014.

His choices and frankly shambolic defensive set up is the major reason Italy are out now. However, besides Carlo, Italian coaches in general look ancient in football. Italy in general are not looking well at all as a footballing nation.
